Meet Rochelle Lewis

We were lucky to catch up with Rochelle Lewis recently and have shared our conversation below.

Rochelle , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I have always been creative. Creativity is my gift and I knew one day I would use it to build the life I dreamed. As a little girl, I ventured into many areas that would enhance my creativity. From writing, painting, rapping, to buying my first Cricut and making things I could eventually sell. I also knew that I was gifted with Entrepreneurship. I started my first business in the 5th grade making bracelets. I knew I wanted to own a business one day so I decided to get my degree in Business Management with a Psychology minor. This led me down a path to figure out what I really wanted to do. Throughout my journey, I fell upon depression and anxiety when I lost four important people in my life within a two year span. I was lost and suffering which led me to star therapy and medication. Medication helped for a while, but I knew in order for me to overcome my depression and anxiety I had to go back to God. As I got closer to Jesus, he helped me overcome my depression and anxiety because I started to learned who God created me to be. He did not create me to be sad and depressed. God created me to glorify him.
With Jesus and tools from therapy, I saw a tremendous difference in my mental health. One of the tools I learned about was affirmations, but something about it just didn’t help all the way. Instead, I started saying what the Bible says about me. “I am the head not the tail” (Deuteronomy 28:13) and “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalms 139:14). This started to boost my confidence. When I combined Jesus, creativity, and Entrepreneurship together, I realized these three things I loved most led me to my purpose and business. My purpose is it help people overcome their depression and anxiety in a new creative way by understanding their identity through the Confirmation of God’s word. Confirmation is different than affirmation because everything God says about us is already true and confirmed in his word; versus affirmation where you recite something that may not be true over and over until it becomes true. Thus Blessed Dressed was born. Our clothing line, Confirmation Attire is designed with Bible verses or Biblical inspiration to help encourage people and remind them of who they are. Our Mission is to help individuals increase their faith, overcome life’s difficulties, and confirm their identity through the word of God.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a woman of faith who has always loved Jesus and kept him first. This is my foundation and a huge part of who I am and what I do. I love to help people but more importantly I want to help bring people closer to Jesus because he is a healer, confident, friend, comforter and so much more. Blessed Dressed was founded on these principles. Talking about Jesus and encouraging others is the most rewarding part of what I do. My other favorite part is coming up with new designs and products that will help people increase not only their faith but their style. I love to be cute and stylish anywhere I go, so it is fun for me to put a little bit of my personality into the business. I have so many new things coming up for Blessed Dressed. We will be coming out with some new products soon and attending expos.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Research is very important. Understanding your industry and competitors along with understanding a personal SWOT analysis will help make the business stand out. I always kept the question of “what problems am I solving” in the forefront of my mind. I also understand who my audience is. Not everyone is going to buy my product and that’s okay.

Perseverance is needed to run a business. Running a business is nonstop; especially when you first start. You have to keep going and you can tweak things along the way. There will be challenges and you will make mistakes but that is just apart of Entrepreneurship. Fear is not an option.

Prayer is the most important. I know I don’t have the ability to handle all of this on my own so I must stay in consistent prayer. I prayer over my business, new ideas, new opportunities and connections with people that see the same vision God gave me. Without prayer, I get disconnected from my ultimate power source, Jesus.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I would love to collaborate with new people. I am looking for social media and digital marketers that can help me take my social media platforms to the next level. I would also like to work with accountants that can help me expand financially. Lastly, I would love to work with other fashion designers that can help me expand our clothing line with new products. The best way to contact me is through email at support@blesseddressed.net.
I am excited to be connecting.
