We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rocío Mejías Godoy. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rocío below.
Hi Rocío, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience is in my DNA. I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs, watching my parents and grandparents build their own paths, and I was raised with the conviction that if you want to conquer the world you have to be willing to work for it. They taught me that nothing meaningful is achieved without sacrifice and effort. That foundation is what keeps me standing when things get tough.
This is why I had the courage to trade corporate security for a life without limits that I could only find in the United States. For a decade, I operated at the highest level of the luxury hotel industry, but I reached a ceiling. I realized that while I was helping to build someone else’s empire, I was sacrificing my own legacy and my most precious asset: my time.
I spent years working through every Christmas and missing family milestones because the corporate structure demanded it. I didn’t choose entrepreneurship to work less. On the contrary, building RM Magic Dreams is the most grueling challenge I’ve ever faced, but I get my resilience from the grit it takes to hit walls every day and keep climbing. I am fighting for my American Dream because I fell in love with the mindset of this country. I love that even during a weekend in Brickell (Miami), you see people everywhere talking about business and growth. Here, the ’employee mentality’ is replaced by a hunger for success that is truly inspiring. I’ve learned that every person around you is a source of growth. I’d rather work twice as hard for my own vision than settle for the comfort of a corporate cage. My resilience is the bridge between the heritage of my family and the global legacy I am building in the land of opportunity.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Rocío Mejías Godoy. While my roots are Spanish, I consider myself a citizen of the world. At RM Magic Dreams LLC, we specialize in high-end destination weddings, acting as both a strategic and emotional bridge for bicultural couples. My approach is clear: if one partner is from Florida and the other from Europe, why not celebrate a wedding in each location? I ensure this transition is seamless so that no family member or friend is left out, especially when travel barriers might otherwise keep loved ones apart.
My journey is backed by a decade-long career in the ultra-luxury sector. I developed my expertise in Madrid (Spain), working for Meliá Hotels International at properties belonging to the prestigious Leading Hotels of the World collection. Later, I reached a career milestone as part of the team that secured the fifth star for Hotel Villa Marquis in Paris, the highest category of luxury in France. While I am fully qualified to lead international hotels as a General Manager, I chose to follow my heart and become an entrepreneur at 29 years old, a time when I felt I had the perfect balance of energy and maturity to handle such high responsibility. I wanted to move away from the corporate desk to be closer to people.
The trajectory of RM Magic Dreams has been truly special. Although the project was conceived in 2024 and officially launched in February 2025, our impact has been immediate. We achieved the #1 organic ranking on Google in record time, with over 10,000 engagement events and active interest from countries like China, Singapore, Germany, and Mexico. This momentum has already allowed us to sign multiple transatlantic contracts, uniting families across the ocean.
We operate with an exclusive boutique model for high budgets. I personally guide my couples, especially when they don’t have clear ideas; I adapt to their needs and protect their investment. A high budget should always mean excellence, never unnecessary spending. For my couples, I am their Wedding Planner, but I am also their designer, their therapist, and that older sister who brings peace when things get stressful.
Beyond planning, I share trends and inspiration through a weekly blog at www.rmmagicdreams.com, and I am currently developing a physical planner so my methodology can reach those who want to organize their own magic. My vision is fearless: I am already looking toward New York and Los Angeles. Finally, I want to send a message to all the women out there: I encourage you to take the leap and start your own journey. Let’s support each other and grow great together. It is better to try than to live with the doubt of ‘what if.’ My goal is to keep growing, driving international economies while ensuring that my couples are simply, deeply happy

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three things that truly changed my life were having a global soul, being completely self taught, and the ability to turn a dream into a plan. Living and working across Europe, the USA, and Canada was much more than just traveling; it was about opening my mind. It gave me a global eye to understand what a couple really needs, even when they do not know how to say it yet.
As a Destination Wedding Planner, I have realized that my greatest skill is empathy. It is being able to put myself in my clients’ shoes, speak their language both literally and emotionally, and be that trusted face they need when they are thousands of miles away from home. I am the bridge between their dreams and the reality of the vendors and logistics.
I am also incredibly proud to say I am entirely self taught. I started RM Magic Dreams LLC from nothing. I did not have a big budget or a perfect business plan. I started with a simple website that even had ads, and I learned everything from scratch by failing, trying again, and teaching myself how this world works. I had to dive into the deep end without a life jacket, and that is where I learned to swim.
My advice for anyone starting out is simple: Do not wait for the perfect moment. I started as a girl with a dream and a messy plan, and today I am a Dream Creator. Trust your gut, be ready to learn every single day, and remember that being the face of your business means being the heart of it too. Your education is your base, but your courage to adapt is what will actually build your legacy.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My success is the result of a powerful ecosystem of support and a global perspective that shaped my character. My journey has been anchored by three fundamental pillars: my partner, my grandmother, and my parents. Without these three pillars, I would not be here today.
For a long time, I sought the traditional security of the hospitality industry, but my partner, Javier, was the one who challenged my definition of stability. He was my sole moral support from minute zero; he was the only person who knew about this project while I was developing it in secret. Javier constantly pushed me to see that my true potential wasn’t in managing someone else’s business, but in architecting my own empire. He provided the emotional and strategic foundation I needed to leap into the limitless world of international entrepreneurship.
Alongside him, my grandmother María represents the legacy of my resilience. As a pioneering businesswoman in Spain, she didn’t just tell me a woman could succeed; she showed me through decades of leadership. From her, I inherited the grit and determination required to build RM Magic Dreams LLC with a focus on excellence.
However, none of this would be possible without the global foundation my parents provided. Their unwavering support allowed me to study and live in seven different countries, an experience that fundamentally transformed me into the woman I am today. Beyond becoming a polyglot fluently navigating English, Spanish, and French, this international journey opened my mind in ways I never imagined. It gave me the cultural intelligence, the empathy, and the mindset necessary to lead a brand that speaks to the world.
I am successful today because Javier believed in me when the project was just a secret, María taught me the discipline to execute, and my parents gave me the world as my classroom. Together, they transformed my talent into the vision that defines RM Magic Dreams LLC today.
