Meet Rocklyn Williams

We recently connected with Rocklyn Williams and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Rocklyn , you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?

My generosity has always just been part of my character even as a child. I’m a giving person in general and get joy from it. When I come across anyone that has a problem I usually try to put myself their situation. One of the first few jobs I had when in high school was working at Best Buy in the media department. I loved working there because my love for music and working with cd/tapes I knew of all the new releases before they’d come out. That job gave me a great urge to provide good customer service. After that it lead to me working for Sprint and AT&T doing customer service for many years and experience from there adding on.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m a mobile detailer. My goal is to always provide excellent service and at a great price. Some things that matter to me is to staying consistent. That’s not only a good habit, but also ensures customers to be at ease. If I come across something I never done before I’ll try it on my own vehicle first to make sure it’s done properly and move forward. The more work and time you put in you will become better and more comfortable in your craft. Something to also mention is you don’t need fancy equipment, tools, etc up front when first starting…just start. As long as you’re able to get the job done well it will all work out and in due time you can add on and upgrade things.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

For me Id say staying consistent with everything regardless. If (and you will) you make mistakes learn from them. Also believe in yourself and know your worth. Don’t be afraid to set prices to what you believe and feel. Nobody is to tell you what you should be charging. You will attract the right people and they will respect, see your worth, and appreciate it. Also to always be honest and up front. Nobody wants to feel like they are being deceived or have to question things going on. Honesty will take you a long way in life in general. Lastly for me is communication. That’s important to me with all my customers. I want you to feel like you’re a priority to me because you are. If you text or call me I will answer, you will get a response right back and if I can’t I will be in contact with you soon as possible. Every now and then I will just make a post on social media thanking everyone that supported me, even if it was just one time because I never forget where I come from. That’s also why I have the incentive for a free wash on the 7th booking to show my appreciation.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

I’d say my day one customers helped me far as this. Me continuously detailing there vehicles allowed me to fine tune and try new things to cut down time. It’s soo many different ways I’ve tried doing things. Some worked for the better and some didn’t at all, but I wouldn’t know if I didn’t change anything. Of course doing the same thing over and over can become boring so that led me to switching things up. I also credit my big sister. I’ll come up with ideas and run it past her and I’ll get her opinions and advice on whatever. She’s definitely a huge supporter of me. Just like anything I’ll always be adding on, there’s always room for improvement.
