Hi Roderick, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I’ve always attributed my strong work ethic to the values instilled in me by my grandfather during my upbringing. He was not only a God-fearing man but also a dedicated and hard worker himself. Witnessing his commitment to his responsibilities left a lasting impression on me. He emphasized the importance of putting in the effort and maintaining a sense of integrity in all aspects of life. Those early lessons have shaped my approach to work, motivating me to consistently give my best and uphold a standard of excellence in everything I do.

As the founder and CEO of an independent record label (Ear IV Sound Productions), what I find most exciting and special about my role is the opportunity to be deeply involved in the entire music creation process, from inception to completion. Being at the helm of a record label allows me to not only discover and collaborate with talented artists but also to play a pivotal role in shaping their musical journeys. The most thrilling aspect for me is the creative process itself—being part of the magic that happens from the initial concept of a song to its final production. Witnessing artists express their unique talents and ideas, and then working collaboratively to bring those visions to life, is incredibly fulfilling. It’s not just about running a business; it’s about fostering a creative environment where artists can thrive, and where we collectively contribute to the rich tapestry of the music industry. That hands-on involvement in the creative journey is what makes my role as a founder and CEO truly special and exhilarating.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, I believe three qualities that played a pivotal role are hard work, ambition, and persistence.
Hard Work: The commitment to putting in the effort, going the extra mile, and consistently delivering high-quality results has been a cornerstone of my journey. Hard work not only opens doors but also builds a reputation for reliability and excellence.
Ambition: Having a clear vision and ambitious goals has been crucial. Ambition fuels the drive to push boundaries, take on challenges, and constantly seek growth. It propels individuals forward and inspires others to join in the pursuit of excellence.
Persistence: In the face of setbacks and obstacles, persistence is what keeps the journey going. It’s the ability to stay focused on long-term goals, learn from failures, and adapt to challenges. Persistence is key to overcoming hurdles and turning them into stepping stones.
For those early in their journey, my advice is:
