We recently connected with Roger Gonzalez and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Roger, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I’ve built my confidence and self-esteem over a long period of time. For most of my life, I was very shy and struggled with low self-confidence. I didn’t realize how much this was holding me back until I went off to college. That’s when it became clear just how many opportunities—both personal and professional—I had missed because of my lack of confidence. I knew I needed to make a change. As I began to grow and push myself outside of my comfort zone, I started to feel better about who I was. I also discovered strengths and skills I never knew I had. Building confidence and self-esteem has been a crucial part of my personal development.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Roger, and I’m 24 years old. Since I was a kid, my dad and I have always dreamed of opening our own certified farmers market. I grew up visiting farmers markets and eventually started out as a vendor myself, selling aguas frescas. Over my time as a vendor, I fell in love with the sense of community and the joy of bringing people together to support local businesses.
One day, as I was thinking about what to name our market, the idea came to me: every time I’m at a farmers market, I’m having a great time—so we named it Good Times Farmers Market!
Today, my dad and I are proud Owners of Good Times Farmers Market, held every Sunday from 9 AM to 2 PM at Los Angeles Valley College, on the corner of Burbank Blvd and Fulton Ave.
Our market features a wide variety of offerings, including delicious fresh produce, artisan crafts, multiple food options, and a fun bounce house for kids. With plenty of convenient parking and a spacious seating area in our food court, Good Times Farmers Market is the perfect Sunday destination for families and food lovers alike.
Supporting our local vendors means helping them pursue their dreams, and I love seeing the passion and happiness they bring to the market each week. One of my favorite parts of running the market is connecting with customers and building a strong sense of community around what we do.
Come experience the good vibes, great food at Good Times Farmers Market—we’d love to see you there!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in our journey are perseverance, strong work ethic, and passion. These traits have guided us through challenges and helped us stay focused on our goals.
For anyone early in their journey, my advice for developing or strengthening these qualities is to surround yourself with a supportive, like-minded community. Being around people who share your drive and values can inspire you, hold you accountable, and help you stay motivated—even when things get tough.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
There have been many people who have supported me and played a huge role in helping me overcome challenges and develop essential skills—especially my family, including my mom and dad. My dad and I started the farmers market together as a team, and we each bring different strengths to the table. Whenever one of us needs help with a specific task, we’re able to support each other and bounce ideas back and forth.
I’m incredibly grateful to be building the farmers market alongside my dad. It’s been amazing and I’m excited to continue growing our local community and supporting our vendors as they pursue their dream businesses.
