Meet Rolly Garcia

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rolly Garcia. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rolly below.

Hi Rolly , so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
Being the only one in the room who looks like me has taught me to embrace my uniqueness and use it to my advantage. Instead of feeling like an outsider, I see it as an opportunity to bring a fresh perspective and contribute something different to the conversation. I’ve learned to be confident in my ideas and not be afraid to speak up, knowing that diversity of thought is valuable. It’s also made me more adaptable, as I’ve had to navigate different perspectives and find common ground. Ultimately, being the only one who looks like me has taught me to turn what could be a challenge into a strength.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I consider myself a dynamic and versatile full-time content creator, weaving my creativity across various platforms to share a spectrum of concepts and ideas. On YouTube, I do DIY, bringing flair to home decor projects and offering intimate home tours through engaging vlogs. I’m currently exploring doing 1-hour music videos that aim to provide calm and relaxation. TikTok is my collaborative canvas, where I join forces with brands to craft compelling content for targeted campaigns. I have collaborated with big brands like Netflix, Starburst, Walmart, Amazon, Samsung and many more. Instagram showcases my wanderlust, with a primary focus on travel vlogs capturing the essence of my journeys, particularly in the captivating landscapes of Korea. On Facebook, I’m a reel virtuoso, concentrating on car-centric content—providing valuable tips and tricks for driving enthusiasts. My feed isn’t just about vehicles; it’s a motivational hub, sprinkled with inspirational posts.
Meanwhile, on Pinterest, I’ve carved a niche for myself with a treasure trove of DIY videos, offering a visual feast for the creatively inclined.
Currently, my monetized platforms are TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube. These platforms are my sources of income.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, I’d say adaptability, perseverance, and a continuous thirst for learning were three pillars that significantly impacted my path. Adaptability: The digital landscape is ever-evolving, and being able to adapt to new trends, algorithms, and audience preferences is crucial. My advice is to stay curious and embrace change. Experiment with different content styles and platforms to discover what resonates best with you and your audience.
Perseverance: Building a presence and making an impact takes time. There were moments of doubt and challenges, but perseverance kept me going. To those starting their journey, I’d say be patient and persistent. Success rarely happens overnight, and each obstacle is a lesson in disguise. Learn from setbacks and keep pushing forward.
Continuous Learning: The digital realm is a vast sea of information. Staying relevant requires a commitment to continuous learning. Whether it’s staying updated on industry trends, mastering new tools, or refining your content creation skills, prioritize learning. Seek out courses, mentors, and communities that can support your growth.
In essence, be adaptable to change, persevere through challenges, and never stop learning. The journey is as much about the process as it is about the destination, so enjoy every step and use each experience as an opportunity to grow.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
As of now, the biggest challenge I’m facing is finding a balance between staying productive and avoiding burnout. Juggling various platforms and content creation can be demanding, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance is crucial. To overcome this challenge, I’m implementing a more structured schedule. I’m setting clear boundaries for work hours, allowing time for breaks, and prioritizing self-care. Finding efficient workflows and focusing on high-impact tasks are also part of my strategy.
It’s an ongoing process, but by proactively addressing the issue and making conscious efforts to create a healthier balance, I’m working towards overcoming the obstacle and ensuring sustainability in the long run.
