We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Romulo Landin Casillas a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Romulo, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from living a life of knowing that death is imminent , things really shouldn’t matter and we should make life the very best we can. ,Making things that matter to us. Living for things that matter to us.
Thinking things wont go your way takes the same energy as things going your way anyway so why not continue to be positive.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Currently focused on creating more art through video and photography, want to capture a still shot of what the world is today. I want to expand into commercial video focusing on artist being creative and think outside of the normal music industry collaborating with visual, physical and musical artist.
Currently working with @a.westsidestory and @vadiostar in San Bernardino to bring Navidad en el barrio, this is an all free event for everyone in the community. this event will be held December 13, 2025 11:30am 700 n Mt Vernon ave. San Bernardino California. If anyone is interested in sponsoring this growing annual event they can reach out 909.381.2828.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Be resourceful and useful to everyone needing help, at the beginning there will be people asking for help just do it without expecting anything in return, you will also learn skills and meet people that you otherwise would never meet and learn things that would eventually come in handy. Go to every event and meet as many new people as you can , offer your services everywhere you go and see how you can genuinely help, don’t forget to take breaks but focus on why you’re doing it. If you work towards your dream everything will fall into place. Ask for forgiveness instead of permission unless its super illegal , even then try. A vest, ladder and camera will get you into most places and your skills will get you into even more places. Buy your favorite director or photographer lunch , or send some work their way that’s out of your skill set, build your circle of experienced artist and you soon will be the experienced artist.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
critical of my own work and putting my work out in the world, social media, printed, digitally. I should be exposing my work daily but life has put me back into marination station mode. It is time to cook!
