We recently connected with Ronnie & Gracie Hanson and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ronnie & Gracie, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
Our generosity comes from our passion for the sustainable journey. We have been on this journey for many, many years. Sometimes taking different forms; from looking at food choices to reducing the amount of single use plastic purchased, to closely looking at ingredients to be careful of what goes in and onto our bodies. We genuinely want to share our passion with those around us; our family, our community; help to educate and explore how we can all contribute to making the world a better place.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Rayne Refillery is powered by a Mother and Daughter team located in NH. We focus on crafting quality products using natural & organic ingredients, clean & toxin free scents, with compostable / biodegradable packaging & labels. Products are good for you, your home, and our Earth. We aim to reduce single use plastic and offer items that are low or no waste and refillable.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three skills that we believe had the most impact on our journey thus far is communication, passion, and patience. In regards to starting a new business venture, all of these skills are of high value. One that I would give advice on is patience. Patience is key when starting up as things do not happen overnight. Making connections, making sales takes time. The journey is a bit of a rollercoaster for most and it takes patience to not stress when no leads or sales are coming. It takes pause and patience to redirect yourself and figure out where you can put effort, exploring reducing cost of goods, evolving labels and packaging, etc. It was during one of these moments of practicing patience when we found our compostable / biodegradable labels made of sugarcane. Our labels at the time were what we quickly pulled together, not bad, but not necessarily what we wanted for us and our customers either. What you see today on most of our products is the outcome of using that down time to build bigger and better.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
Most helpful to us along the way is each other and our family. We are truly a small business that was founded and built from the ground up by us for our community. We would not be where we are today if we didn’t already have a strong relationship with eachother in addition to being able to lean on our family for support and ideas.
