We were lucky to catch up with Ronnie Riggles recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ronnie, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I found my purpose through various series of events. Trials and tribulations that contributed to my story and my life’s work. Every loss I every took transformed into a lesson which taught me that we never lose. I found my purpose once I learned to believe in myself. I learned to believe in myself after seeing that I was tough enough for turbulent times.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am an entertainment company. A close friend of mine said that to me once and it always stuck. What I realized he meant was, I’m not singularly a great musician. I am an all around creator. For me that’s what’s always been the most exciting. We get the opportunity to create endlessly without limitations. I make music absolutely, songwriting, singing, composing and production. I act and model as well. I curate events and community service/philanthropy initiatives through my own company. The ability to positively impact people with timeless memories and moments through my art is the best part to me about me getting to be Ronnie Riggles.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think that three qualities for me that were very impactful are discipline, patience, and wisdom. I think that the best way to improve discipline is to commit to it as early as possible, the longer you wait, the longer it takes. I think patience is case to case but once you master it, well for me at least who has gotten much better but hasn’t mastered it; it just makes life easier. once i got even a little more patience it taught me to be OK with whats happening, not in a non chalant way rather being patient made me more thoughtful than I’ve been before. I think wisdom is just and application of knowledge acquire over time.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli
