Meet Rosanna Peñaflorida

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rosanna Peñaflorida. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Rosanna , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
As young adults, both of my parents embarked on a journey from the Philippines to live out the American Dream. After meeting in New Jersey, they started a family. Fueled by unwavering determination and a tireless work ethic, they faced adversities head-on. Their resilience and dedication were naturally instilled in me. Through years of hard work and sacrifices for their family, they paved the way for a life I am profoundly thankful for—a life built on the values of faith, perseverance, gratitude, and the endless possibilities that arise from a steadfast commitment. Their inspiring journey is a testament to the transformative power of resilience and the pursuit of a brighter future.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am lead photographer and owner of Pena Rose Studios. I specialize in birth and lifestyle photography and video. Ever since I was a little girl, I always had a deep fascination with photos. To be able to freeze time and truly admire the beauty around and the beauty of what God has created. I really wanted to harness those emotions. Now, I love being able to serve families with the authentic joy I see from behind the camera and for them to experience for a lifetime.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Composition and framing, understanding of light, and developing meaningful relationships with clients form a robust foundation for success in photography. As a child, I had a deep fascination with photography. As I got older, I became a hobbyist. I wanted to elevate my skills and create images that resonate with people and stand out in a visually saturated world. I kept practicing, developing and elevating my skills and before I knew it, it became my full-time career. I have grown and captured families milestones, year after year. After 12 years as a professional photographer, I love the emotions and connections I capture while photographing the families I serve. I still smile behind my camera and my computer while editing.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
There will always be the ebbs and flows of running a small business and it can be overwhelming at times. Even though it is hard, I will ask for help when I need it. The best advice I have is to trust in your team and let them thrive on their strengths. Lead and set them up for success so your business can thrive.
