We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rose Dougherty. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rose below.
Rose, sincerely appreciate your selflessness in agreeing to discuss your mental health journey and how you overcame and persisted despite the challenges. Please share with our readers how you overcame. For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.
I suffer from anxiety and depression since I could remember. My first break through was when I discovered I was sensitive to Spirits. I attended a school for psychics by accident thinking it was a history class. Through learning my gifts I was able to work through being sensitive. I was taught how to protect myself from dangerous and toxic energies. It helped inspire me to teach people to do the same. But I felt it was also important for me to seek therapy. With that I was able to dig deep within my triggers and it helped me become a better healer. I was able to work through my anxiety and depression and push through my challenges.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I was a hair dresser for over 11 years but it wasn’t fulfilling. I wanted a job where I can be myself and creative but there were still some restrictions. The career, even though I helped people feel confident , was still very surface level for me. Once I realized my skills in being a sensitive I started to give people readings and helped them connect with their dead loved ones. After 6 years of education and practice, I launched my company Spell of a Rose. I make everyday products such as lip balms and laundry boosters, only I add intention into them. For example one my Show me the Money lip balms, once applied helps bring abundance into my customers lives. It can be through a raise or finding money on the ground. As for my laundry boosters, you add a spoonful in your laundry and it can add the intention in what you want. My Cleanse Me laundry booster helps remove negative energies. All of my products go through a cleansing, Reiki charging, and Ritual. I also hold bi-monthly Reiki Circles at Dragon and the Rose. Currently I only allow 9 people to participate. In my circles I go through and give each participant a couple minutes of Reiki. While that goes on, I also talk them through a Chakra clearing meditation. Then we go into another mediation where we meet our guides and past loved ones. Its a perfect place for building community, receive healing, and practice psychic abilities in a safe space. I can also do private Reiki sessions for people who want a longer one-on-one experience.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
One of the most important things I learned was to accept the fear of failure. As someone who doesn’t like making mistakes, making products was a bit of a nightmare. I went through many trials and errors while creating. I even lost some money in the process but I now understand there is always risk with the rewards. Now I see them as necessary lessons. If there is one skill I recommend for people in my industry is to cleanse and protect. When dealing with the supernatural, there are so many variables of the unknown. Working with attachments, dark spirits or even people throwing jealously. A lot of people bi-pass the basic learning and it can be departmental for your physical and mental health. The last but not least is of course being understanding. A lot of people who turn for us for help feel vulnerable or easily judged. Most people will find you crazy if you believe your house is haunted. I always make sure my clients are comfortable and safe throughout the consultation.
How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
My biggest challenge is allowing myself to be in the limelight. I am a very private person and putting myself out there makes me sick to my stomach. I am a huge introvert and I’m not a big fan of social media. But I understand in order to grow I must face what makes me uncomfortable. I try to inspire others to do the same.
