Meet Roseann White

We recently connected with Roseann White and have shared our conversation below.

Roseann, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

After over 30 years of alcoholism and drug addiction, I had a moment of clarity that changed me forever.
I admitted my powerlessness, sought help for my physical, mental, and emotional challenges, and knew I had to help others that were struggling with self-destructive patterns through movement and nutrition.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I can look back now and honestly admit that from childhood to adulthood, I didn’t have the coping tools to handle living life on life’s terms. I was filled with excessive worry and overwhelming fearful feelings. This worry and fear, combined with enormous amounts of stress and anxiety, led to years of harmful, addictive habits and destructive choices. From the age of 4 until 43, the most successful coping tools were alcohol and drugs.

The irony is, I was an extremely creative, talented person, full of energy and able to accomplish anything I set my mind to do!

As a teenager, I was always in with the in-crowd. I was an above-average student and active in the community. An attempt at suicide at 18 didn’t stop my self-destructive behavior and my appetite for a successful career in the field of advertising. For decades I lived a “dual” life.. good student, successful entrapreanuer by day and raging alcoholic and drug addict by night.

I sold my flourishing company at the age of 40 and made a complete career change into fitness… active in my alcoholism and drug addiction… and still a chameleon navigating through life.

At 43, my marriage fell apart, and my mental health was deteriorating. I didn’t want to live. I finally faced my powerlessness over drugs and alcohol.

And so my mission, my life purpose began: to help others to live fit.. one day at a time. Through nutrition and exercise, I recovered and restored myself back to a vibrant life. I learned to love and accept myself with all my imperfections.

Today, I walk the walk and talk the talk! I have so many tools which help me to deal with my addictive behaviors and relieve anxiety and stress in my busy life… and I love sharing them with others.

Lifestyle tools, like exercise and nutrition, have been a natural solution to recovering from my chronic adrenal fatigue, food sensitivities, and other digestive disorders. After years of toxic choices, I understand how to make use of these tools for their therapeutic benefits. Today I’m able to safely and effectively help her clients manage the challenges life brings their way, so they too may make positive, healthy choices in their lives too.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Awareness… that there is a problem and you need help to find solutions
Willingness.. to take suggestions that may be out of your comfort zone
Action… to make different choices and be consistent and accountable to yourself for them… no matter what

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?

My number one challenge is aging gracefully…
I’m amazed at how fast time has gone by and how my body functions differently than it did 10, 20 and 30 years ago.
The fact is, there’s no overcoming getting older, but there is a kind of peace in accepting this inevitable fact of life.

What I do today, I started doing 25 years ago.. and preach to everyone : )
I try my best to get at least 7 hours of sleep a day. I pray and meditate every morning, make healthy food choices all day, and give myself permission for “cheats” on the weekend. I move at least 1-2 hours daily (pilates, yoga, weights, walking, etc). I totally believe in the power of green smoothies and supplements. It’s critical to drink lots of water every daily… and of course I’m committed to total abstinence of alcohol.

It’s not rocket science, but it is science… to support my body’s needs, holistically.

I remarried at the age of 65 and feel blessed to have an amazing life partner who walks this journey with me alonggreat support group of like-minded people.

My mantra to anyone over 50: you’re never too old and it’s never too late to make simple, small changes to help you live fit and age well!
