Meet Rosemary Orozco

We recently connected with Rosemary Orozco and have shared our conversation below.

Rosemary, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I often wonder if I was born with resilience, or if I adopted it along the way. Perhaps it’s just good old-fashioned stubbornness, but when I set my sights on something, I refuse to let circumstances or setbacks define me.

My journey as a clothing line owner has been quite the rollercoaster, and it’s been a true test of my resilience. When I launched my business in the summer of 2020, I had no idea that COVID-19 would hang around for years, drastically changing the world and consumer habits. It felt like I was pushing against the tide, and everything I’d put into launching my first fall collection seemed almost in vain.

People were spending most of their time in comfy sweats for Zoom meetings, and the idea of buying new clothes seemed almost obsolete. Events were limited to just 10 people, and many were too fearful to even step out and mingle. Then, on the opening weekend of my first holiday pop-up, the California governor announced a new lockdown, keeping most shoppers away from malls and stores.

But here I am, still standing.

When I find myself entangled in what seems like an unending web of challenges, I use different tactics to help me through.
I remind myself that the startup phase of any business is inherently demanding. I often tell myself success is my only option and that any failure I experience is a stepping stone to success, something I once heard Arianna Huffington say.
When I’m feeling fatigued, I look back on the milestones I’ve achieved to help reignite my energy and motivation.
I turn to inspirational quotes for guidance and solace. They remind me that I’m not alone in my feelings and thoughts, and that can be incredibly comforting.
Gratitude is another essential part of my journey. I take a moment to reflect on all the blessings in my life, even during the toughest times. It’s a reminder that there’s always something to be thankful for, and that perspective keeps me going.
In the end, my resilience is a blend of determination, adaptability, and gratitude. It’s the fire that keeps me going, even when the path is rocky and uncertain.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I currenlty live in the San Franscisco Bay Area where I wear multiple professional hats, each of which brings me immense joy and fulfillment. I’m a TV Meteorologist, a part-time on-air performance teacher, and the proud owner of the Rosemary Orozco Collection women’s clothing brand. My journey into these roles has been a unique and heartfelt one.

My passion for both TV broadcasting and fashion modeling ignited while I was studying at San Francisco State University, and that flame has never waned. I consider my job as a TV Meteorologist a true privilege. While I see myself as a public servant, it also offers me exciting opportunities that come with being in the public eye. Being involved in my community and having the love and support of many is a genuine blessing.

In my role as a TV personality, I get the delightful chance to dress up on ordinary days, and this is where the inspiration for R.O.C. clothing takes root. I’ve come to understand that taking that extra bit of time to plan and dress well can be a transformative mood and confidence booster. It’s something I want all women to experience and enjoy.
Over the years, I’ve accumulated an extensive collection of dresses and outfits for work, which led me to a seemingly whimsical thought: why not design my own clothes? This fleeting idea evolved into a dream, and today, it’s a beautiful reality.
Hence, R.O.C. is for women who enjoy dressing up, even on ordinary days.

We’re thrilled to introduce our all-season trench coat this fall, inspired by the cool, breezy weather of San Francisco. Our vision is to offer it year-round with colors and patterns that reflect the changing seasons, providing women with the opportunity to feel confident and stylish, no matter the occasion.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I learned early on, still learning to be honest, that you may offer the best product available but if no one knows about it, it doesn’t matter. I knew very little about the business side of running my own business when I began, which forced me to hit restart more often than I would have liked. The three skills I find really important are:

Set your brand apart by paying attention to small details in design, production, and presentation.

Strong business skills are essential, including knowledge of finance, budgeting, and strategic planning.
You’ll need to manage inventory, pricing, and budget for marketing and operations.

Strong branding and marketing skills are necessary to create a unique identity for your fashion brand and promote it effectively to your target audience.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
The Rosemary Orozco Collection is a premium brand with a goal of forging collaborations with unlikely partners to reach its target audience in unique and enjoyable ways. To find a good fit for this brand, we’re looking for individuals who possess certain characteristics and preferences: Our customers have a creative, adventurous spirit and value sustainability. They’re loyal, socially connected, and enjoy fashion that offers unique experiences. We embrace diversity in age, targeting a mid to high-income bracket. If your company shares our passion for unique, fun partnerships that benefit both sets of customers, we’d love to collaborate. Our goal is to reach our audience in creative and memorable ways.
