We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Roshi Patel a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Roshi, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
I have always been a very positive person. I view it is a mindset. Life always has a way of working itself out. It may not always turn out the way you expect, but there is always a reason. I have found that being optimistic helps me get through the good and the bad with a level head. When I first started RSP Designs, I had no idea if I would get any traction. I had no clue if I was good enough or if people would be interested in my work. I wondered if a bride would trust me enough to make things for one of the biggest days of their life. Through this, I stayed true to myself and kept perfecting my craft. I stayed positive and confident that people would appreciate my work. It did not take long for RSP to gain followers and clients. A positive mindset can change everything.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
RSP Designs is your center for hand-lettering and calligraphy. This ranges from acrylic signs to jackets to mirrors. I primarily work with wedding clients, however, all events need signs! I have also done birthday parties, graduations, the list goes on. RSP is a special brand because everything is done by hand. A lot of time and love is put into every order. Additionally, I have recently expanded into the digital world where I have some hand-drawn phone wallpapers for purchase!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The first most important skill is dedication. Starting a business, running a social media page, completing orders all takes a lot of time. If you don’t commit, you won’t succeed in the way you want to. The second most important skill is communication. As a business owner, it is crucial that your customer service is top-notch! This is why people go to small businesses! Lastly, a positive attitude. This will get you so far, not only in your business, but in life. Keep your head up and keep moving forward, no matter what.

I am always looking to connect with wedding planners. I have worked with numerous planners around the valley, and I am always looking to expand this.
