We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Roshika West. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Roshika below.
Roshika, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Like many, it’s taken me time to understand my personal purpose. I definitely feel that my purpose is to create using the arts and media, as well as to train and inspire others. I don’t take this purpose lightly, and I always take care to educate and inspire.
In college, I found a particularly strong calling in media and writing. My great-grandmother spoke to me when she was on her sick bed, and she could barely talk. Yet, she saw an art piece of mine in her room that I gave her; her eyes widened, and then she proceeded to tell me to “tell my stories.” Although I felt that I did not know what she meant at the time (in college), her words inspired me to be creative throughout my life by telling creative “stories” using film, art, media, and writing.
I also found purpose in creating visual arts. I’ve always been an artist however, during the height of the pandemic, I was asked to teach art classes virtually. I realized my dreams of training were expanding and that people needed the arts. Thus, I found that my art had a great purpose and changed lives by helping others to have a creative outlet, that also acted as a form of wellness and self-care.
During the past few years, I walked in my purpose by writing two books. I found it to be a very successful and fun venture. I teach important educational lessons in all of my books. Yet, I’ve seen that my work provides a unique expression and touches the hearts of many. That inspires me to keep going. I can’t wait to tell more stories, like my great-grandmother said! I hope to use various media platforms, including books and films to share more creative stories.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I create media including books, film scripts, and graphics, in addition to conducting media and arts training. I started my media business years ago to create video promotions for businesses. Yet, later I began working on books and I found it to be a successful path for me.
I am also an art influencer and people can find my art videos on Instagram now, and YouTube soon. Art is not only entertainment but also a wellness tool and I love to train groups in the arts upon request or booking. My art booking, blog, and gallery website is www.hellosunshineart.com.
Ultimately, I hope my art, training, and books inspire many.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Many special qualities make a person who they are. I think that the three most important qualities that a person should have are: being a good listener, having faith, and being resilient. I think being a good listener will help any professional. I have been blessed to receive great advice over the years.
I also think having faith in yourself is important and helps you to keep believing in yourself and your skills. Lastly, resilience will take you very far. If your calculated risk fails, know that you will learn from it if you keep going. I think there is no limit to what we can do, and I believe being resilient will always allow you to see the other side of the hill—the side where you win and the sun is shining on you. #Winning
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Who do you want to collaborate with?
As an indie author, I would love to collaborate with larger book publishers to continue to share my stories. In the future, I’d also like to collaborate with streaming networks to share more stories using video.
For books and training, I’d love to collaborate with teachers, education systems, libraries, and companies that are looking for guest speakers and book readings. Book readers can also get to know me through my books. Each has a great story with skill building lessons—and yes, there are more great stories and engaging books to come. My author’s website is www.learnmediapublishing.com.
Individuals and companies can also book me for an art class, graphic service, or speaking engagement. On my new social media channels, people will be able to see free art lessons, book news, and great lifestyle hacks.
Thanks for allowing me to share. Be Bold and your “Bold journey”.
