We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rosie Daniel a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rosie, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Rosie Daniel started LuLit’s Hair Essence LLC in Evansdale after suffering from alopecia as a child. Camouflaging and covering up her bald spot was difficult to deal with, so Rosie wanted to do something more to help those suffering from hair loss. Thus, the idea for LuLit’s Hair Essence was born. After losing her job in October of 2018 from a shoulder injury, Rosie wanted to develop a way to supplement her family’s income, as going from two incomes to one was difficult. In July of 2019, Rosie’s hard work paid off, and she was able to launch LuLit’s Hair Essence LLC from her home in Evansdale Iowa. The products are made of eleven different organic herbs that Rosie has personally selected out of love and self-education. LuLit’s products are all-natural, and Rosie is currently helping cancer survivors and those with alopecia who are suffering from hair loss by using her products. The products are made for everyone, are affordable, and can help immensely with hair growth. LuLit’s products are available on our online website and store for easy purchasing. LuLit’s Hair Essence is currently very active in the community and with other agencies for Small Businesses helping others build their businesses also, I knew this was my true purpose in life.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I truly feel that because I trusted my faith by not letting the fact that I had never done this before stop me from starting my business, there forth I understood that I had to be open minding and willing to learn at all times. I am self taught to my products and to running a small business and I wouldn’t change anything at this point. (Determination, Being open minded and Willing to learn). My advice would be to, Believe in yourself be confident about everything you do and love what you are doing, so that others would love it too.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
Living in a State that was rated one of the worst places for African American to live is a challenge itself, but what tend do is uplift and motivate myself as well as being others along and trying to change the opinions of others that if you put mind and effort into doing see it through follow through with what you’ve started and master it while doing it. I have learnt that sometimes you have to step outside of your comfort zone to build and or grow a successful business.
