We recently connected with Rosilynn Morris and have shared our conversation below.
Rosilynn , so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Overcoming imposter syndrome is an ongoing battle, one that shows up in different ways depending on the day. Some days, I feel confident in my skill set and go-getter mindset, while other days, my inner critic speaks louder than I’d like. When imposter syndrome hits as a therapist, I remind myself of the hard work and time I’ve dedicated to this profession—four years of clinical experience, plus three years of unpaid internships during grad school and undergrad. I also think about the diverse cases and systems I’ve worked with over the years, and the continuing education I’ve pursued to expand my knowledge. As a business owner, imposter syndrome often surfaces, too. But when it does, I try to sit with it. The truth is, I’m learning as I go. I’m proud of myself for taking the leap of faith and building a private practice that feels authentically mine, complete with its learning curves and all.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
At Find Your Piece, I create a mental health sanctuary grounded in compassion, cultural responsiveness, and social justice. I work with children, teens, and adults to help untangle the complexities of childhood trauma, stress, life transitions, relational struggles, and generational wounds. With a blend of humor, authenticity, and a deep passion for humanizing mental health care, I support my clients in reconnecting with their true selves. I offer virtual therapy on Mondays and Tuesdays for clients across Minnesota, and in-person sessions on Wednesdays in Roseville. I provide private pay options and am currently in-network with Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Confidence, humor, and staying grounded in my values have been essential qualities in my private practice journey. Everyone starts somewhere, and having the confidence to believe in yourself is crucial for pushing forward amidst the uncertainty. Finding humor in life—so I don’t take myself too seriously—has also been key. As a therapist, I pride myself on showing my clients my humanness, and part of that is embracing my sense of humor. Finally, staying grounded in my values helps me navigate my business in a way that feels authentically me and true to what I believe in.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’d absolutely love to connect and collaborate with other businesses! For photographers and videographers—let’s team up to create mixed media around mental health awareness, expressions, and humanizing mental health care. For those in website design, SEO, or advertising—let’s chat! I’d love to hear your tips, tricks, and ideas on how I can amplify my practice and expertise. And to my fellow healers—mental health professionals, bodyworkers, massage therapists, chiropractors, skincare specialists, or nail technicians—let’s connect and explore ways we can support one another!
