We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rossie McCree. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rossie below.
Rossie , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Growing up I was a very shy and quiet child. When I became interested in the arts , wanting to be an actress, specifically being a stage actress being on stage performing helped me with my confidence and self-esteem. As the years passed and my continuation in many acting classes, auditions and public speaking my belief in myself and landing roles my confidence wasn’t an issue anymore.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I started my career in the arts as an actress thats all I wanted to be. I pursued acting as a career after high school and landed roles on stage and was cast as the lead in an independent film. Of course life happens and things change, back in around 2020 during the pandemic actors weren’t allowed to be on sets anymore so I got an opportunity to get into podcasting. I had a podcaster named John DiGregorio the host of Movie Lovers Unite reach out to me for an interview, he was interested in me as an actress. Before I knew it I was appearing on Movie Lovers Unite as a guest doing movie reviews along with other topics. John eventually asked me to be a co-host and producer of Movie Lovers Unite. I would get a spinoff segment called Rossie Talks Movie’s T.V and Everything In Between. Being that this form of entertainment was new to me I was a little intimidated to say the least. It was easier sitting with John and him taking the lead but to host a show by myself I was quite nervous but I did it and Rossie Talks was a success. A few years later I was at a networking mixer in Downtown Sacramento and I met Zach Hubbard whom at the time had a studio in town and was directing a podcast. He mentioned that he saw my show Rossie Talks and Movie Lovers Unite, he offered me a studio and was willing to direct it, I just needed to come up with a name and premise. I decided to call the show Rossie’s Clubhouse, it would be a Sacramento based Podcast that focuses on interviews in all areas of entertainment. That show would change my life. I had the pleasure to interview upcoming recording artists in Sacramento and across the country. I interviewed Big V of Nappy Roots, NBA Legend Matt Barnes, recording artist MIMS and my recent interview would be a presser with Wanda Sykes and Director Tamika Miller for their new film “Undercard.”
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I’ve learned on my journey that I needed to learn to be willing to change with the times. When the pandemic hit my career in acting took a hit and at the time no one knew how long we would have to stay off sets, not being allowed to audition for roles it was horrible. Getting the opportunity to get into podcasting, I had to learn about this new space in media and entertainment. I decided to take that challenge and began diving into social media branding myself which I found was very powerful. Being that Movie Lovers Unite Podcast was also a YouTube Channel I was still able to be on camera and reach other artists and those in the industry as a dynamic podcaster. Using your social media as a platform to show your work is a game changer. I used my social media to upload monologues I did, as well as showing clips of the latest shows on Rossie’s Clubhouse as we as Movie Lovers Unite.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
First John DiGregorio the host of Movie Lovers Unite Podcast and YouTube Channel had been so impactful in my career as a podcaster. His influence and patience teaching me how to produce and host a show. Showing me how to use editing tools to make thumbnails and how to reach out to talent to appear on the show. He also was very helpful giving me tips on reviewing movies as well as interviewing. My management and husband Clint Barquist aka Sac Metal Head has helped build my social media presence, while also being my photographer. He makes sure I get to interviews, and networking events in town helping with producing Rossie’s Clubhouse and Rossie Talks. I share my success thus far with John and Clint. But my Faith plays a huge part in my career.
