Meet Ruben Alvarez

We recently connected with Ruben Alvarez and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ruben, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
You develop confidence by undertaking the worst circumstances and coming out the victor. People as whole, run in the opposite direction of anything new or change. When you run to pressure and run to change, you get put in situations that would break a lot of people mentally. When you are able to put yourself in those situations and not break, you develop confidence.

As business owners and entrepreneurs, the name of the game will always be how much pressure can you take without it destroying you?

I have come to learn that the harder the obstacle, the greater the confidence on the other side of it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I created a company called The Marketing Hunters with the sheer goal of controlling the amount of money I make. As time has gone by, I have read and learned a lot when it comes to marketing and market manipulation. Even though I am extremely good at what I do, I have matured and realized that the best businesses are around people, not one person.

So in the last year or so, we switched everything to a growth mindset type of business. Marketing is still at the core, but we host a lot of events that are meant to empower the business community. These events not only empower them, but it also empowers our employees and gives us a strong sense of culture within the business, as we are all striving for a similar goal.

Our latest event will be The Moment Conference, where we are bringing business leaders for a one day event meant to create One Moment in each person that will change their lives forever. This event means everything to us because we want to show the people who believe in us as a company that we will always give back and give back BIG!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
There have been so many that three is hardly enough, yet I believe they all revolve around discipline.

1. Have the discipline to read and get new information
2. Work on not giving into your cravings or desires
3. Learn sales and marketing at such a high level you can teach others

There are many areas in which you can focus your life on when you start. Very few of those make you money and you are left struggling. People might say focus on your mind, but it takes twice the amount of effort to be happy without money, rather than if you developed the skills early on to just have the cash you needed to focus on other things.

Work on your disciplines and the money will follow.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Learning to lead effectively. Sometimes there are people who I like too much and let things slide. Sometimes I am too nice or at times I am too stubborn.

However, when a leader cannot be fluid, the team notices and the culture you built goes out the window.

Sure, we have dreams but the dreams of our people need to match ours and if they do, you need to be flexible, not them. I have learned to be irritated one second and the next, have complete empathy for them.

Where past bosses of mine would have screamed, shouted or made a big deal over something minimal, I have learned to let things go and move on. The majority of the time the mistake never occurs again.

This only happens when we are able to see past our own selfish desires to get things done now, when we want them, and see another point of view or feel empathy for others.

I can truly say I enjoy working with every single one of the people I work with. They are not employees. We are all just working for the same thing.
