Meet Rubi Villa

We recently connected with Rubi Villa and have shared our conversation below.

Rubi, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

I try to keep myself busy, creativity comes in the most unexpected ways but if I don’t have a variety of things around me and events happening it becomes a little harder to get inspiration, so keeping myself physically and mentally moving is what keeps my creativity alive. Sometimes the problem may even be stopping the avalanche of ideas, time is sometimes not enough to represent or express them, for this I have developed multiple skills and disciplines that range from painting and drawing to makeup and dance.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I feel that I have a mission and this is to show through my artistic work the most essential things in life. I make paintings and create concepts trying to demonstrate that in all of us there are similarities, and these are the things that make us. They unite as a race and in turn unite us with nature. Art in my opinion should not be focused on dividing us.

I try to keep my artistic work visible, I continually participate in public exhibitions and I try to keep my social networks updated so that everyone has access to my work in some way.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I specialize in traditional painting and mixed media art. I am a self-taught artist and I come from an environment with few resources, which is why I developed a vision that allows me to identify materials and tools to create, in the kitchen of the house you will find things to paint with. For example, in what falls from trees there is also something to sculpt with.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client would be one who understands that I work with magic and is also capable of understanding that what matters most to me is aesthetic enjoyment, you don’t need to know much about art to be able to enjoy it, and someone who doesnt ask me for explanations in relation to my artistic work is who I would like to relate to.
