Meet Ruby Soto

We recently connected with Ruby Soto and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ruby, so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?
Honestly I persist and despite the haters by using all their negativity and turning it around as positive energy and it gives me the strength to keep on moving forward. Because one thing I know is that once somebody tells me I can’t or won’t accomplish my goal . I will make sure and prove them wrong . They are my fuel.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Ruby as you already know I’m the owner at Porvidas801 and Model. I focus on bringing all the chicano style clothing brands out here to Utah. I assist to different lowrider carshows & different events such as concerts, pop ups ect. Now I’m also working on my own clothing line and I’m super excited to see what God’s plans are for me . The most exciting part about what I do is the opportunity of meeting new people such as artist, promoters, models, & actors .

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
One of the things is keeping things to yourself, Because you can’t just tell anyone your ideas, Since not everyone has the same mindset or same position as you. What also impacted me is leaving my kids with grandma most of the time so I can go out and hustle . I have 4 kids between 5 and 11 . Which one of them is autistic and it was super hard for me and is still is at this point leaving them so I can go out to work and make money for them . The positive part is that I’m doing all this for them, For their future.
Another thing is my anxiety.
I get so much anxiety everytime we heading out to work either a carshow, concert, or event I get so anxious. I try not to drink my medication anymore but is super hard to overcome anxiety. My husband helps me so much to keep on going and his always telling me I can do it . And honestly seeing my kids face and him helping me out just calms me down and I end up putting my anxiety to the side and get my self up to work .

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My husband. I really don’t know where I be if it wasn’t for him . I been with him for over 15 years and we been through so much together . We had ups and downs but we definitely still holding it down. And will definitely reach the top together if those are God’s plans.
