Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to RubyShineOn!. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
RubyShineOn!, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
From my Mother. She’s definitely a strong woman and figure in my life. She’s a woman of Grace and dignity and I’ve watched her go through hell and back and remain resilient through everything that she had been through. She made sure that me and my brothers were very well taken care of. She never let us see her down and she conquered everything that she had to face even with a physical hearing disability she’s my rock and role model.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Hi, my name is RubyShineOn!. I’m a Music Artist from Los Angeles,California. I began singing early on around the age of 4 & writing songs from the age 14. I performed with The Crenshaw HS Choir, talent contests, as well as singing background vocals for local bands. I’ve worked with various celebrities and local artist in LA. I was also a contestant on season 1 of American Idol, I was showcased on their American Idol rewind that year. In the past few years, I’ve been working and putting out music and I have more music coming out soon as well as various other endeavors I’m working on. I plan on one day starting a make up line and creating Merch.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Staying consistent is the main thing. Writing down your goals and being realistic when trying to meet them. Another thing is to have confidence in yourself and believe that you can do whatever it is that you want to do. That nothing is impossible despite some challenges that may be present. just keep going no matter how hard it is how long the road may be you’ll get there eventually and it will be worth it
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Gaining my confidence back and learning self love. Being comfortable in my skin and not giving a care about what anybody thinks about me. That I am capable of great things. Also learning how to calm my anxieties. Taking breaks and saying No when I need to. Setting boundaries.
