Meet Rudy Alceda

We were lucky to catch up with Rudy Alceda recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Rudy, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Literally, by trial and error. Going out there and trying your best, until you feel confident in your work. Confident enough to start sharing it to the world and being happy with the result. I wont lie it takes time, you’ll doubt yourself, even if others say your work is great, but it is honestly never enough until you think its enough. And you only get to that point by being consistent and improving on the craft, experimenting until you find your own groove.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am Travel/Lifestyle photographer, I’m a very in the moment kind of shooter. I like to travel to places and capture its essence and unique perspective. My whole goal with my art is to inspire others to break from the norm, go into the unknown, and find themselves in the places they least expect.

A reminder that there is so much out there to see. Hoping, by inviting them to see what I see, through my lens they themselves will make the move to chase that freedom.

Along with my photography I’m currently working on releasing a hoodie with my art on it. It will be a limited run at first with a specific design and if it goes well, I will hope to release more clothing with my photography on it.

I will be posting updates on it through my IG account @rudyalceda

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Being good natured
Adaptive
&
Curious

Don’t be afraid to question things and just try it out. You’ll never know until you go for it.
And be kind, I learned a lot from running into other photographers on the street, being friendly can open a lot of relationships that can help build your skills by just being around.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

I would have to say my good friend Phillip Sturm had a big part in my development as a photographer.
He was the first person I had made friends with due to photography when I was just starting. I learned a lot from him, and till this day I still do. He really inspired me and helped with my consistency to keep shooting. Also thanks to his sense of adventure we have traveled to many places together that have led to some of the best shots I’ve taken in my path as a photographer.
