Meet Ruth Jones

We recently connected with Ruth Jones and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ruth, great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.

I’ve always had a natural lean toward adventure and bold experiences. As a kid, I was fascinated by things like storm chasing, swimming with sharks, and skydiving. I had a bucket list full of adrenaline-pumping challenges—and I’ve checked off quite a few of them. But for a long time, that spirit of adventure didn’t extend to the rest of my life. When it came to my career and personal choices, I defaulted to safety. I wanted the steady paycheck, the predictable path, the comfort zone.

But life doesn’t let you stay safe for long—not if you want to grow. I kept finding myself at crossroads where I had two options: play it safe and stay stuck, or take a risk and step into what I truly desired. Over and over, I chose the risk. Not because I always felt confident, but because I knew what it felt like to settle—and I wanted more than that.

At first, I leapt because I was focused on the prize. I hoped things would work out. But eventually, I began to see the pattern: every brave step created momentum. Every risk I took stretched me—and rewarded me. I got stronger, wiser, more resilient. The more I trusted that voice urging me forward, the more I realized: the real growth happens outside the comfort zone.

I remember once being promoted to a higher position without the pay to match. It felt incredibly uncomfortable, but I chose to advocate for myself. I asked for what I deserved—and I got it. That moment taught me something powerful: risk is not just about adventure—it’s about self-respect and honoring your worth. It’s about betting on yourself, even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed.

Now, I don’t chase comfort—I chase calling. I use discomfort as a compass. It usually points to where my next level lives.

As John A. Shedd said, “A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.” I believe that’s true of us too. We were built to move, to explore, to evolve. Bold journeys require brave choices—and I’ve learned that the only thing riskier than taking a leap… is staying stuck.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m the founder of Ruth Jones Inspires and Let’s Go! Press, and I help women navigate life transitions with clarity, courage, and bold faith. As a keynote speaker, author, and transformation coach, my passion is helping others rise from the rubble of unexpected change and step into the life they were meant to live—not the one they settled for. Whether they’re facing a career shift, personal reinvention, or a season of waiting, I equip them with tools to move from chaos to clarity and from fear to forward motion.

Through Let’s Go! Press, I’ve also had the honor of coaching first-time authors in self-publishing their stories with excellence and confidence.

I’m also a passionate speaker who’s had the joy of encouraging women at conferences, retreats, Bible studies, and special events—helping them break free from limits, activate unshakable faith, and boldly step into the life they were born to lead. I’m the author of Living the Sweet Life: Simple Secrets to Finding Purpose, Joy, and Fulfillment Every Day, a heartfelt guide for women who are ready to embrace meaning and joy right where they are.

Two things have me especially fired up right now. First is my new, weekly video series, Transition Tuesdays—a weekly reset for women navigating change. Every Tuesday, I show up with hope, practical tools, and a bold reminder: you’re not broken—you’re becoming. The second is my soon-to-launch signature course, Chaos to Confetti: Navigating Life Transitions with Grace & Resilience. This 12-week guided experience is designed to help women rebuild their lives with intention after seasons of loss, delay, or disruption. We’re gearing up for our beta cohort now, and I’m already expectant for the transformation that will unfold.

Also on the horizon is BoldHER Women—a vibrant, faith-forward movement and community for women who refuse to shrink back. It will feature digital courses, retreats, a resource library, and an empowering online space where bold women can grow, connect, and activate their callings.

At the heart of everything I do is this belief: “You’re one bold step away from your next breakthrough.”

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back on my journey, three qualities have stood out as the foundation of my growth and success: character and integrity, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.

First, character and integrity. I truly believe you can’t outperform these. Charisma may open doors, but it’s your character that keeps them open and builds lasting relationships and trust. I’m anchored in my relationship with God, and while I’m far from perfect, I model my character after Jesus—how He treated people, communicated, and led with humility and love. After all, He changed the world with just twelve disciples. For those early in their career, my advice is to let your character speak louder than your resume or your charm. Be consistent, be honest, and be trustworthy—because your reputation will precede you more than anything else.

Second, a strong work ethic. This has served me through every season—from starting a new role where I had to prove myself, to rising into senior leadership positions. I learned early not to rest on my laurels or expect others to work harder than I was willing. When you’re beginning your career, don’t be afraid to take on extra responsibilities, get your hands dirty, and seek solutions even in the details. Showing up consistently and putting in the work is how you build credibility and trust.

And finally, a willingness to learn. This one’s huge. The second you think you’re the smartest person in the room, you’ve already lost. I love asking questions, learning from others, and reading as much as I can. Studies show that the average person reads less than one book per year after graduation. Yet, reading just 30 minutes a day can make you an expert in any subject within a year. That’s powerful. This mindset of lifelong learning has propelled me personally and professionally. For those starting out, my advice is simple: read widely, listen carefully, and never stop seeking growth.

These three things—being trustworthy and reliable, working hard, and always learning—have carried me through every season. If you focus on growing those, you’ll be set up for whatever comes next.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client is a woman standing at a crossroads—she’s hit a season where what once made sense no longer does. Maybe it’s after a big life shift, or maybe it’s just a slow sense of unraveling. She’s lost sight of who she is, and while she may look strong on the outside, inside she feels unsure, stuck, and deeply uncertain about what’s next.

But beneath that stuckness is a longing—for clarity, direction, and a real plan to get her life moving again. She’s not afraid of work—she just needs someone to help her hear her own voice again and guide her toward what’s possible.

That’s where I come in. I help women reconnect with their God-given identity, rebuild their confidence, and chart a path forward that feels both purposeful and practical. Through my faith-based, whole-person framework, I support women in cultivating a bold mindset, daily practices and inner clarity that help them move forward with purpose.

The result? A woman with more than strategy and an action plan, but with renewed energy, elevated self-worth, and the confidence to own this next season—fully and unapologetically.
