Meet Ruthie Odom

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ruthie Odom. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Ruthie , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I found my purpose by getting to know myself.

If you don’t know who you are, it’s nearly impossible to find your purpose. The easiest way to remain unsure of yourself and your purpose is by avoiding struggle and making decisions based on convenience rather than what truly matters.

You must make decisions and take action on things that are important to you, even if they are difficult. That’s how you build a purposeful life.

I embarked on building a practice as an energy healer when I was 21, still in college. I received certification to offer one-on-one life activation sessions through the Modern Mystery School. Needless to say, my decision to pursue spiritual knowledge raised doubts and questions.

It wasn’t an easy decision; it was far from what most consider “normal.” However, my guiding principle, my “North star,” has always been serving others. I wanted to help people and find the best way to do so. However, what that entails day-to-day and skill-wise varies greatly depending on the person. Wanting to help people at 21 looks very different from wanting to help people now.

That’s why you have to “know thyself.” You have to understand what you can do “right now” and act on it.

At 21, all I could offer was this one energy healing session. I offered it to anyone interested, and soon one session became two, and one client became ten. Now, ten years later, I have a thriving healing practice in Southern California. I’ve even fulfilled my dream of directing the L.I.F.E documentary, showcasing the results of this healing work worldwide—a dream I couldn’t have imagined coming true when I was younger.

So, my advice to anyone seeking to understand their purpose or grasp the bigger picture of who they are is to start with achieving small goals. Ask yourself, “What is my purpose today?” and accomplish that. Then ask, “What is my purpose this month?” and achieve that. Then, “What is my purpose this year?” and accomplish that.

As you achieve these small purposes, they contribute to the bigger picture because you begin to know yourself. You learn your unique formula for success and discover your purpose by building on these small achievements.

I found my purpose by taking action on what mattered most at the time and by striving to turn those desires and values from ideas into reality. Even if you’re afraid and no one believes in you, do it anyway, because the process will ultimately build strength of character, integrity, and faith in yourself.

Working hard to make your dreams real can be one of the most fulfilling and joyful things you ever do.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a spiritual guide, healer, and teacher dedicated to empowering individuals through transformative one-on-one sessions. My services include Life Activation, Reiki, and immersive metaphysical workshops.

The most exciting part of my work is simple: it works.

Sometimes, people are hesitant to try healing work because they think it is “woo,” irrelevant, or they are afraid of being fooled, duped, or taken advantage of. Perhaps they are skeptical, and I welcome the skepticism.

The spiritual tools I offer have profound effects on the mental, emotional, and physical bodies. Through the work I offer, clients often experience profound transformations, including increased clarity, emotional release, physical healing, and a greater sense of purpose and direction in life. I have witnessed hundreds of stories of such healing and transformation (so much so that I directed a docu-series about it—you can check it out at the link below).

As a guide, I have a lot of confidence in what I offer because the results speak for themselves. I don’t have to force anyone to believe in what I do; I just have to show up and offer people a choice to heal. The modalities do the rest.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1.Don’t waste your time trying to fix something that can’t be fixed today. If a decision doesn’t need to be made, there is no use worrying about it until it does. When it is time for a decision to be made, take care of it immediately. This will free your brain from a lot of unnecessary stress.

2. You have to have something stronger than your ego in order to change. If you do not have a mentor, system, team, or spiritual practice that requires you to overcome your ego and reach beyond your limits, then you will not grow beyond your current understanding.

3. Don’t pigeonhole yourself into a story about yourself. The moment you say, “that’s just the way I am,” you cut off access to your potential and how much of life you can experience. For example, saying “I hate shopping, I am really bad at it” and then never choosing to go shopping limits the amount of joy you can have in that area. Saying “I hate running, so I never run” limits your understanding of what you can accomplish. Look at all the things you “hate” to do and learn to love them. Then your weaknesses become strengths, and you begin to understand that you are more than what you think. This is key to self-mastery, where nothing outside of you defines you. Enjoy the struggle.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client is deeply committed to growth and change. They are open to new insights and driven by a desire to create something far greater than their current reality. They are ready to invest time and effort into crafting the life they truly want.

As a guide, I offer a unique blend of healing sessions, dynamic workshops, and personalized coaching, all designed to ignite profound and lasting transformation. While I provide the tools and support, the real magick happens when clients fully engage with their journey. If they are not willing to commit to their healing path, there is only so far we can go.

My clients are visionaries—creatives and innovators on a mission to break free from stress, anxiety, and unfulfilling relationships. Together, we work to unlock their true potential, elevate their energy, and achieve clarity of purpose, allowing them to thrive in all aspects of life.
