Meet Rvl

We recently connected with Rvl and have shared our conversation below.

RVL, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from the wild, unfiltered stories of the people in this community. Vegas is known as a real-life GTA server, where every day brings a new, unexpected twist. Living here feels like being part of a reality show, and each of us has a role in it.

It’s the resilience of Las Vegas locals that keeps me going, the way people here face challenges head-on, laugh through the chaos, and keep it real. There are moments when things get tough, and I’ve felt that pressure too. But knowing I’m part of this community, part of this unpredictable, raw Vegas experience, makes me want to keep showing up, sharing stories, and being a voice for the city we all call home.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I run Real Vegas Locals, a platform that gives people a real, unfiltered look into life in Las Vegas. I started this community because I felt there was a need for authentic, no-holds-barred conversations about what it’s actually like to live here. From the crazy moments that feel straight out of a movie to the genuine challenges locals face, Real Vegas Locals shares it all, letting the city’s true personality shine through.

What makes this platform special is the community itself. People here are constantly sharing their own stories, experiences, and perspectives on the city. It’s a mix of the funny, the strange, and sometimes even the tough realities of Vegas life. And I love that it feels like we’re all living in a real-life reality show, a place where anything can happen.

Right now, I’m excited about growing the platform even more and finding new ways to connect with this amazing community. The focus is on keeping things real and giving locals a space where they feel heard and represented. There’s always something new in the works, so stay tuned for more ways to dive into what makes Vegas, and the people who live here, truly one-of-a-kind.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

When I started this page 13 months ago, I was following a few Vegas accounts I admired, but something felt off. They all seemed tailored for visitors, or even worse, they came across as sellouts, only pushing the bright, polished side of Las Vegas. That wasn’t the Vegas I knew, and it wasn’t what so many of us were living. I wanted to show it all. The good, the gritty, the wild highs, and the hard truths of calling this city home. I wanted a place where locals could see themselves, a space where we could connect over the real, raw reality of Las Vegas, not just the postcard version. That drive to capture the truth behind the neon lights is what built Real Vegas Locals, and it’s what keeps me sharing every day.

Authenticity is number one. People can tell when you’re being genuine, and in a place like Vegas, where things can sometimes feel over-the-top or artificial, authenticity really stands out. My advice for anyone early in their journey: be real and unapologetically true to yourself and your message. Don’t be afraid to show who you are, flaws and all. It’s the realness that connects people.

Resilience has been essential. Building something from the ground up isn’t easy, and there will be challenges, criticism, and times you feel like giving up. My advice? Embrace the setbacks as part of the process. They’ll teach you things you’d never learn otherwise, and they’ll make your work even stronger.

Finally, community-building has been at the heart of everything. Creating a space where people feel seen, heard, and connected is powerful. For anyone wanting to build a community, I’d say start by listening. Listen to what people want, what they’re passionate about, and find ways to give them a voice. A strong community is built on shared experiences and real connections, and if you focus on that, you’ll create something meaningful and lasting.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

In the past year, my biggest growth has come from learning to engage with the community on a deeper, more authentic level. At first, I was focused on sharing the stories I thought would resonate, but I soon realized this platform is truly about listening. Now, instead of just posting, I’m constantly interacting, asking questions, and inviting people to share their own experiences. I read every single comment to understand what my audience cares about, running polls to gauge what resonates, and even adjusting headlines based on the response.

When haters speak up, I don’t shy away. I reach out in private to explain that not everything I post is something I personally agree with or oppose. Real Vegas Locals isn’t about one perspective; it’s about being real and showing the full spectrum of life here, from the good to the gritty. Staying authentic is what drives me to keep reading, engaging, and evolving.

This journey has also strengthened my resilience. Running a platform like Real Vegas Locals brings a mix of love and backlash, and I’ve learned to handle both while staying true to the purpose behind this community. Balancing these interactions has given me thicker skin and a renewed commitment to representing the real voices of this city.
