Meet Ryan Barber

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ryan Barber. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ryan below.

Hi Ryan, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
My optimism derives from many life experiences especially after almost dying. Unfortunately being involved as a passenger in a serious car accident, I was left with many injuries including breaking most of the bones in my body, puncturing a lung, suffering a brain leak that caused short term memory loss, plus many more injuries. I struggled learning how to walk again and even struggled to just “think” clearly. There were many test but the ultimate test was remaining optimistic. Every day I reminded myself that the pain both physical and emotional would not last forever. I remained positive throughout my situation that eventually led to me living a more fruitful life. As my body healed my mind was set on remaining optimistic throughout all my challenges in life and if I could serve to be a positive influence or role model to anyone, I tried to do so with positive encouragement. I also thank my parents for raising me to believe in myself no matter the situation. My parents truly planted the seeds of my optimism by raising me to be the light towards any darkness that may present itself.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I broadcast sports entertainment on Twitch TV & Kick! I started broadcasting roughly 9 years ago after being in a car accident that should have killed me. My little brother introduced me to Twitch TV in hopes I would find some new entertainment as I was disabled and could not walk. After watching a few streams I decided broadcasting my own content and bring my creativeness to the internet. I love sports entertainment and streaming said content on Twitch introduced me to a new world and new ways of interacting with people from all around the globe with similar interest. Before I knew it my hobby turned into the way I would make a living for myself. After years of streaming I was able to build a community called “Artemisia”. Artemisia is our brand name and community label. Artemisia features artists, streamers, broadcasters, podcasters, and creators of all walks of life looking to connect and build with other like minded individuals via their craft. I hope our brand helps real people live out their dreams and make a living doing what makes them truly happy. Anyone can see our community first hand by tuning into Twitch.TV/RynoJB or Kick.com/RynoJB Monday-Friday at 7AM(CST).

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Patience, studying, & compassion. Patience taught me the importance of believing in what you are doing. Invest your time wisely and walk slowly. Remember you’re not in a race and remaining patient can provide positive results for your peace of mind. Studying has always helped me learn more than I already knew about any craft I pursue. Knowing what to study some times comes from experience so don’t be afraid to jump off the cliff to learn how to fly. You might be looking for support with your small business, goals, or simply building an audience but when dealing with people, being compassionate is one of the most rewarding things within any human interaction. Everyone is fighting their own battles so try to invest your time helping others in ways that serve a positive impact.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was teach me the value of love.
