Meet Ryan greenspan

We caught up with the world champion Professional Paintball player Ryan Greenspan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Ryan, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
Optimism is a powerful thing. Just smiling can trick your mind into believing a bad situation is good. There is a lot of power to thinking and staying optimistic. There is, however, a very fine line between being realistic and optimistic. Between being confident and optimistic. Know the difference and find the balance.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Ryan Greenspan is the world’s most decorated and influential professional player. Over the course of two and a half decades, Ryan and his team; San Diego Dynasty have won more professional events than any team in the history of the sport. Ryan sits on top of the leader board with the most wins of any professional player in the history of the sport. Additionally, Ryan hold the most MVP awards out of any professional player, garnering his fifth such award at the age of 42, this year at the opening major event. A founding member of team Dynasty, Ryan has traveled to nearly every continent play, compete and teaching the game of paintball. Ryan is a true ambassador of the sport. Accolades aren’t all that Ryan is known for. Over the course of his career, Ryan has also been on the forefront of promoting the sport in any way he can; appearing in paintball video games, traveling on concert Tours, running a successful YouTube Show and being on both the the board for the United States Paintball Federation and playing on The Professional and Veterans men’s US national team. Recently Ryan founded the Paintball Hall of Icons, paintballs version of a Hall of Fame.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
stay positive and optimistic. we spoke about that earlier and this is an important mindset. Moving on. This is something I learned from one of my coaches. he would always remind us to “clear it” when we lost a match, a point or a game. You need to be able to move on from the negatives and learn then adapt.
practice like you play. this is something that a lot of people take for granted. you cannot cut corners at practice and expect to perform well at events.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I think that promoting lifestyles that reflect our own is something important. Paintball is a tricky environment for companies to promote within. I understand the negative view that people see when they hear or see paintball. This sport is so special in that it is incredibly inclusive and allows everyone to have a direct effect on the outcome of the game. With that said, I think that there are a lot of brands who align with both mine and my team’s values. I would love some of the energy bar companies to pivot their target demographic from exclusively women influencers to be more inclusive of all athletes.
