Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ryan Hawkins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Ryan, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
When we started Method Demo and Hauling, we saw a real need for safe, methodical, and high-quality demolition. Too often, demolition crews left job sites in poor condition, causing unnecessary repair costs. We knew there was a better way—to bring care and professionalism to an often-overlooked part of construction.
We didn’t always know this would be our path, but over time, our purpose became clear: to provide safe, methodical, and high-quality demolition services that truly benefit contractors and clients. Like any business, we faced challenges—learning how to grow, build a strong reputation, and navigate entrepreneurship. But through it all, our commitment to quality and integrity never wavered.
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey is showing our kids the value of honest hard work while building a business that allows for more family time. Beyond that, we are passionate about giving back—shopping local, supporting small businesses, and donating time and resources to local nonprofits.
Running this business has taught us that growth comes from stepping into the unknown. The biggest breakthroughs happen when you embrace challenges, adapt, and push through discomfort.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
At Method Demo and Hauling, we focus on safe, clean and high-quality demolition services. Our goal is to make the process seamless for our clients by ensuring sites are left clean, safe, and ready for the next phase of construction.
What excites us most is the opportunity to grow and expand while maintaining the high standards that set us apart. We’re constantly improving our processes, investing in our team, and building strong partnerships within the industry. But at the core of everything we do is our commitment to our clients. Every project is unique, and we take the time to understand our clients’ needs, ensuring that the job is done right and that they feel confident in the process from start to finish. Their satisfaction is our priority, and we truly care about the outcome of each job we take on.
Right now, we’re working on expanding our reach and taking on larger projects while staying true to our mission of delivering reliable, high-quality work. We’re also collaborating with several local businesses and nonprofits, reinforcing our commitment to giving back to the community.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Resilience: Serving in the Marine Corps taught me how to adapt to constant changes and stay focused under pressure. In business, just like in the military, unexpected challenges are inevitable, but staying calm and pushing forward is key.
Attention to Detail: A well-done job isn’t just about getting it done—it’s about doing it right. We’ve built our reputation on precision, cleanliness, and professionalism.
Strong Relationships: Success isn’t just about work—it’s about trust. Building strong connections with clients, employees, and industry partners has been crucial.
Our advice for those starting out: Embrace challenges, stay committed to quality, and always prioritize the people you work with.
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Our biggest challenge right now is managing our time effectively and not getting overwhelmed by the many tasks that come with running a business. There’s always something demanding our attention, and it can be tough to balance it all.
To tackle this, we’re currently reading Buy Back Your Time by Dan Martell and working on implementing its strategies. The goal is to delegate tasks that don’t bring us joy or align with our strengths, so we can focus on what we do best and enjoy most. By being more intentional with our time, we hope to create a better balance and a stronger business.
