We were lucky to catch up with Ryan Hellriegel recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ryan, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
I believe the way you do anything is the way you do everything, so I simply do more things I enjoy than less. This equation has led to an optimistic and joyful disposition over time.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Health is wealth. This single statement has consumed me both personally and professionally. From running IronMans to surfing and sailing… and getting injured along the way, I have first hand seen both sides of what it looks like not having good health or be injured. This has led me to developing businesses thats sole purpose is in helping people get back to doing what they love with less pain. We do this through developing novelty recovery tools for things like forearm tendonitis, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel as well as shin splints, tight calves etc.. This is a mission that we don’t take lightly because we know how debilitating these nagging pains can be. We are very excited to announce that we have helped nearly a quarter million people so far and have developed 2 new novel tools for things like neck pain and back pain that you can expect to come out in Q2 of next year. Onwards and upwards we go.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The single biggest piece of advise that I can give is that to be successful leader you must lead with humility, transparency and drive. A leaders job is to support and work for the team, not the other way around.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
On a business note: Decide & Conquer by David Siegel who is the CEO of Meetup. The reasons this stands out to me as the top business book is it is communicated through direct experience and personal/professional challenges that he came across while navigating the Meetup journey. A lot of transparency and vulnerability in there, as if you were sitting down across the table asking for specific examples on tips and tricks and the good and the ugly learned over the years.
On a personal note: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Where the other book is for deep learning, The Alchemist is a book for pure enjoyment and being light hearted. It’s about leaning into the magic of life told through the fictional story of trusting ones own internal compass and following your dreams.
