We recently connected with Ryan Parr and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Ryan with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic is deeply rooted in my upbringing, shaped by the examples set by my parents and my grandfather, Louis Padilla. From a young age, I was taught that if you want something in life, you have to work for it—nothing will simply be handed to you. Life and business are full of ups and downs, but it’s all part of the journey.
I also credit much of my work ethic to observation. Watching my father and grandfather dedicate countless hours to provide for our family instilled in me the value of perseverance and commitment. My mother, though a stay-at-home mom, played an equally vital role. She taught us the importance of unity, love, and resilience, showing that the strength of a family is the foundation upon which everything else is built. Her unwavering support and dedication to keeping our family connected have been a profound source of inspiration for me.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
At Nashville Painting Professionals (NPP), we specialize in residential and commercial painting, staining, and other services, from cabinet painting to wallpaper installation. What excites us most is seeing how a new color or finish completely changes a space, elevating not just the look but also the feel of a home or business. Our team is dedicated to high-quality work, using top-grade materials, and building relationships with clients based on trust and open communication.
We’re especially excited about a new service we recently launched: holiday lighting installations. With the holiday season just around the corner, we’re here to help homes and businesses shine. This service includes a consultation, custom design mock-ups, and a seamless installation to create a festive atmosphere. We can’t wait to light up Nashville this season!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three qualities stand out as instrumental in my journey: resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to quality. Resilience has been essential, especially when challenges have come up that I couldn’t have anticipated; early on, the setbacks felt huge, but they taught me to stay steady and focus on solutions. Adaptability, too, has been key, particularly in an industry where clients’ needs, design trends, and business practices are constantly evolving. Finally, the unwavering commitment to quality is what defines Nashville Painting Professionals and has built our reputation — it’s not just about completing a project but creating something we’re genuinely proud of every time.
For anyone starting out, I’d recommend prioritizing quality over speed or quantity, as it’s your work that speaks for you in the long run. Develop resilience by welcoming challenges as learning opportunities and focus on staying adaptable by exploring new skills and staying open to feedback. Remember, each project is a chance to refine your craft, and every setback is a stepping stone forward.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was teaching me the value of earning what I want rather than letting things be handed to me. While they were always there to support me when needed, they emphasized the importance of hard work and grit. This lesson not only shaped my character but also instilled a sense of responsibility and maturity. I believe this is one of the greatest gifts any parents can give their child, as it lays the foundation for personal growth and prepares you to become a strong, dependable figure—whether in family life or elsewhere.
