Meet Ryan Walsh

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ryan Walsh a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryan , thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout

I used to struggle with burnout when I was running a business that didn’t excite me. Even though I was working hard, the lack of passion made the grind feel heavier and more draining. Now, I’m still putting in just as many hours, if not more, but because I’m deeply passionate about what I’m building, it energizes me instead of exhausting me. When the work aligns with something I genuinely care about, it doesn’t feel like burnout can creep in. Of course, I still pay attention to balance, but the excitement around the mission really sustains me.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m the founder of Fairway Finder, a new platform that makes finding golf tee times 100X easier. Golfers are used to juggling multiple sites and apps just to figure out where and when they can play. Fairway Finder solves that by aggregating tee times across all courses, like a ‘Google Flights for golf.’ It takes the frustration out of the process and helps players discover new courses they might not have considered otherwise.

What excites me most is that we’re tackling a real pain point for golfers while also creating new ways for courses to reach players. It’s rare to find a win-win for both sides of the game, and that’s what keeps me motivated.

Right now, we’re in the process of expanding nationwide, with thousands of courses already in the system and more being added every week. Our goal is simple: make golf more accessible, more connected, and a lot less frustrating to book.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Resilience, curiosity, and storytelling have been the most impactful for me. Resilience keeps you moving through setbacks, curiosity drives learning and adaptation, and storytelling helps rally others around your vision. For those starting out, focus on strengthening those three skills early. They’ll compound over time and make the biggest difference in your journey.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

One book that’s been really impactful for me is Traction by Gino Wickman. It introduced me to the EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System), which I implemented in my marketing agency business. The framework helped me build a strong leadership team and create more structure around accountability and goal-setting. The biggest nugget of wisdom for me was that as a founder, you don’t have to be in the weeds of every decision, you need the right people and systems in place so you can step back and focus on the bigger vision. That shift has allowed me to get out of the day-to-day of the agency and put my energy into growing my new startup, Fairway Finder.
