We recently connected with Rylie Fisher and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rylie, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
I’m optimistic because of my mom. She raised me to think positive about every situation and to keep a good head on my shoulders regardless of the situation. The problem is going to happen anyways but with a good positive attitude, you’re going to get a lot further
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a wedding and elopement photographer! Typical right? Sure but what sets me apart with me as a person and the way I run my business is authenticity. I’m transparent with everything I can be, you always know what you’re getting and there will never be a doubt in your mind that I will show up for you. I love to keep the mood light and fun and let everyone be themselves. Sure posed shots are beautiful but I embrace your true authentic love and really let you and your partner be exactly who you are. This is your love story not mine, so I let you run free and be who you are together with me as just a fly on the wall capturing the wholesome moments you have together.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I’m extremely communicative which has helped me so much along the way. My clients come first always. Im a perfectionist (which is a good and bad thing) but i use it in ways that are helpful to me as a business owner. I always make sure everything is as perfect as it can be for my clients.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
I always take a step back and breathe. If I have to put down what I’m doing and walk away for a few minutes or even hours I will. I am only human and if I’m overwhelmed things are not going to get done the best way they can be. It’s hard to give yourself grace as a business owner but you have to to give yourself the best chance and getting done what needs to get done in the best way possible
