We were lucky to catch up with Rylie Vanderhoff recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rylie, thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout
Burnout is something we all go through at some point. I see life as a constant balance between passion and discipline. It happens when we’re always giving our energy away but forget to recharge ourselves. For me, staying connected to my hobbies and creative outlets makes all the difference. Creating art is what fuels me—it keeps me inspired and gives me something to look forward to every day.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
By day, I’m a full-time Licensed Esthetician off Sunset Blvd., and by passion, I create content and am now diving headfirst into the world of modeling. Skincare has my heart—not just because of the glow-ups, but because understanding the human body and helping people feel their absolute best is beyond rewarding.
Creativity has always been my thing, and YouTube has been my longest-running love affair. From my early years to adulthood, it’s been my little corner of the internet where I can store memories with friends, share my makeup artistry, and build a community that feels like home. It’s always been my safe space to express myself, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Modeling, though? That was an unexpected plot twist. Back in college, my best friend (a photography major) needed a model, and I—nervously—said yes, thinking I was just doing her a favor. But the second I stepped in front of the camera, something clicked. It felt like magic, like I had found a part of myself I didn’t even know was missing.
Now, I’m in the early stages—taking workshops, working with smaller brands, and soaking up every moment. But trust me, this is just the beginning. Keep an eye out, because I’m ready to take on the industry!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
If I had to name three traits that got me to where I am today, they would be passion, communication, and perseverance.
Passion is the spark—it’s the *what* and *why* behind your journey. But let’s be real, sometimes figuring out what you’re passionate about is the hardest part, especially as an adult. My trick? Go back to the basics. Tap into childhood creativity—doodle on paper, write a short story, try something lighthearted and fun. Even social activities like hiking or golfing can bring unexpected joy and clarity. Passion isn’t about pressure—it’s about what sets your soul on fire.
Communication is something we’re all constantly learning. Personally, I’ve struggled with asking for help because I never want to feel like a burden. But the truth is, when you open yourself up to asking—not just people, but the universe—you’ll be surprised at how help finds its way to you.
Perseverance is a daily practice. People will always have something to say—whether it’s doubt, criticism, or negativity. Keep going anyway. I once heard a quote: *“It doesn’t matter if the crowd is booing or cheering—in the end, it’s all just noise.”* You don’t need external validation to pursue what makes you happy. The real victory is when you look back and feel proud of everything you’ve accomplished, despite the noise.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
I like to move my body preferably going outside on a walk. I find when I am connected to my surroundings and nature it makes the life pressures a little less invasive. I don’t always get the opportunity to go outside so in those moments I like to do yoga or just a guided meditation.
