Meet Saba Syed

We were lucky to catch up with Saba Syed recently and have shared our conversation below.

Saba, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

My confidence and self-esteem are deeply anchored in my faith and trust in God. My faith teaches me that every person has inherent worth and dignity as part of God’s creation, and knowing that I was created with unique strengths is incredibly empowering.

My journey as a mother and a business owner has taught me resilience, responsibility, and leadership. By building a place like Oasis Moroccan Bath, I haven’t just created a business but have also aligned with my faith by striving for excellence, and purpose in my work. Engaging in honest and meaningful work continues to enhance my self-worth and fulfillment.

On a more personal level, confidence also grows from the ways a person overcomes challenges and difficulties in life. Facing challenges and trials in life with a strong faith has definitely made me a lot more resilient and confident woman.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I own the only Luxury Hammam spa in Houston, Oasis Moroccan Bath. When I started the business, I was very anxious but hopeful and I must admit that the past 2 years since we opened have been incredibly rewarding. Obviously, there are times of stress and challenges like any other business, but my business is also the place where I go to be at peace and feel the tranquility that my staff and I have created. Meeting our guests and hearing them raving about the treatment is the highlight of my day and it happens frequently!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Research your business idea thoroughly. Have faith and believe in yourself and the success of your business. Keep taking advice from successful business owners and pivot as soon as you need to.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

It is impossible not to feel overwhelmed every now and then as a business owner. And it is not a bad thing necessarily because it means you evaluate and find better strategies for the growth of your business.
So whenever I have those days, I research, I read and I take advice from other business owners, and I pray.
