We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sabika a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sabika , thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
Hmm… if I’m being honest, I don’t think I’ve fully overcome imposter syndrome, and maybe that’s okay. I’ve just learned to keep showing up anyway. Over time, I’ve noticed that the doubt tends to appear when I’m stepping into something new or meaningful. Instead of letting it stop me, I’ve started to see it as a sign that I’m growing.
Did I imagine myself running my own company ten years ago? Not exactly. But I knew I wanted to build something with purpose. A seed was planted, and with time, love, and care, it’s grown and I hope it continues to grow. Even now, I often catch myself thinking, “Am I really doing this?” And the answer is always: Yes. You’ve got this. You belong here just as much as anyone else.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m the co-founder of Little Chirya, a minority- and woman-owned brand rooted in purpose and intention. As a Pakistani woman, it’s meaningful to be part of a growing community of women-led businesses, and even more meaningful to build something my kids can one day look at with pride. I want my daughter and son to see that anything is possible.
Right now, I’m wearing all the hats, from packing orders and managing social media to handling finances and operations. And honestly, I’m grateful for it. Staying closely connected to every part of the business allows me to grow alongside it.
Little Chirya is all about softness, simplicity, and quality. We create timeless bamboo essentials in beautiful, understated hues, thoughtfully designed and packaged. While many brands lean into trends and constant new drops, we’re intentionally building a slower, more sustainable rhythm, creating pieces that can be worn season after season and cherished.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
First, be open to learning. Always. No matter what stage you’re in, there’s so much value in staying curious. Finding a mentor can make all the difference. Look for someone you trust who can offer honest guidance and perspective as you grow.
Second, read and research as much as you can. If you’re starting out solo, it’s essential to have a basic understanding of every part of your business, from setting up licenses to understanding trademarks. There are so many free resources out there, and taking the time to educate yourself early on can save you both time and money. Plus, when you do bring in professionals, you’ll be better prepared to have productive, informed conversations.
Lastly, trust yourself. That inner voice, that instinct, it’s more powerful than you think. Let it guide you, even when things feel uncertain.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was sacrifice the comfort and familiarity of their lives back home to move across continents, all to give us a better life. They poured everything into creating opportunities for their children, and their selflessness shaped who I am today. Their strength, resilience, and unwavering belief in us continue to inspire me daily. Everything I do, personally and professionally, is rooted in the values they instilled in me.
