My grandparents, who journeyed to California in pursuit of better opportunities, instilled resilience in our bloodline. My parents, entrepreneurs who forged their own path, further reinforced the value of hard work and integrity. From an early age, I learned to strive for excellence and to contribute positively to both myself and my community. My unwavering commitment to honing my skills, expanding my knowledge, and embodying virtuous qualities fuels my resilience—a resilience that drives me to give back to my loved ones and actively contribute to the growth of my community.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
As I reflect on my journey, I recognize the profound impact that strong, foundational relationships have had on shaping the person I am today. Whether through family bonds or cherished friendships, these connections have been my bedrock. I’ve come to appreciate the critical role that the company we keep plays in our personal and professional growth. While internal resources are essential, external influences matter too. Surrounding ourselves with kind, insightful individuals fosters an environment conducive to growth.
Considering internal reserves, there are a few qualities that I would recommend fostering as you continue your own journey.
– Hard Work: Talent alone isn’t enough. When the going gets tough, it’s diligence and consistent effort that propel us forward. Remember the race is not against others, but against yourself.
– Openness to Learning: Lifelong learning is non-negotiable. Whether from mentors, podcasts, or books, we must commit ourselves to continuously learn – not just to keep up with the changing world, but better ourselves.
– Curiosity: Curiosity fuels innovation. It encourages us to explore beyond the obvious, to question assumptions, and to see the world through fresh eyes. Additionally, curiosity allows us to think beyond the box—to embrace challenges as learning opportunities.
