Meet Sabrina Santiago

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sabrina Santiago. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sabrina below.

Sabrina, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
As a Parent of a severely handicapped Young Man, My Son, Christopher has been the foundation of My Work Ethic. At 27 years old, living with Cerebral Palsy and wheelchair bound, He has been the constant reassurance that there are those that genuinely have no choice nor ability to venture out through no fault of their own. It is in that constant reminder that If You have the capability to Do things in life that so many take for granted, You bring Your best effort forward with every ounce of spirit You have within You.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Casa Cherrywood Carvings was created in The Fall of 2020. What began as a hobby at the peak of The Pandemic became an ongoing journey of self exploration, tapping into an artistic temperament that I didn’t even know existed. Starting with simple basswoods and Martha Stewart paints has since evolved to working with reclaimed exotic woods ranging from Oregon to Ontario.
With the support of Carol Ward of Outside The Lines Consulting, I was able to introduce My Wares to the People of Westchester County, and as a result, paved the way for a greater reach to The People of New York.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Wow, what a question!

I think the first thing that comes to mind is Knowing Your Own Worth. Only You can make that determination, since You’ll always be Your own worst critic.

Second thing?…86 The Algorithm!

With Society constantly changing generation over generation, there is this constant desire to compete, critique, or conform to what’s trending. And at the same time, trying to keep up with The Algorithm. I come from The Era of Raging against The Machine, not racing it. Which segues into the Third scope of knowledge…

We have only a brief time on This Rock. And for that, I give kudos to those young influencers and content creators that have the resources and potential to do amazing things. They do so with the ability to have a blank canvas. As an artist in My middle age, I have Nostalgia, the history of My Life, and the Lessons that came with it to shape and carve whatever it is I’m thinking or feeling in that moment. That’s what time is: Moments that we can capture or cast aside. Weather You’re a Young Creator or A Youthful Spirit With an Old Soul just discovering Yourself, there is no time like The Present.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
Going “All In” is exactly that: All. In. No shortcuts. No halfway. The only way you learn from mistakes is when you actually make them and self assess. Therein lies the investment towards Your efforts. Acknowledging those missteps and being willing to try a different approach is all part of self investment. Of course, be proud of Your Strengths! But carry that humility with You in Your pocket as You continue Your Life Story.
