Meet Sadi Garmentz

We were lucky to catch up with Sadi Garmentz recently and have shared our conversation below.

Sadi, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Being in the clothing brand business can get discouraging at times especially since the industry is currently over saturated. There were times I found myself doubting a design or a certain style; I either felt like it’s been done before, or it’s too adjacent to someone else’s work and wasn’t truly mine. Having a creative mind where you always think of cool new ways to do what you love is an amazing thing. I had to sit back and realize everyone draws inspiration from something or someone. When you’re doin great things in life you’ll some times feel like what you’re doin isn’t good enough because you see someone else doin it as well, but the passion in you has to be so strong that it can overcome any doubt. At the end of the day as long as I know I’m doing what I love to do, nobody can say what I’m doing isn’t something that rings true to who I am as a person.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Hi, my names Sadi Garmentz and at this point in my life I’m just focused on staying consistent. There are a lot of times I find myself switching to a different plan or veering off to another design, fabric even the entire project itself. I’m very passionate about what I do I just feel like I need to be able to stick to one thing until it’s finished. I’d rather one finished product then a thousand different projects that aren’t even finished yet.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three qualities I believe helped play an impactful part in my journey are, consistency, confidence, and determination.
Consistency being the first skill I mentioned because, there are a lot of times where someone has great idea but never follows up on it. Being confident is one of the biggest roles there is because if you don’t believe in yourself and your capability to succeed then nobody will. Last but not least determination. You have to be determined to believe in yourself even if nobody else does, you have to be determined to put your ideas and beliefs in others faces until they see it as well. Ways you can help improve these qualities in yourself is simple. Know in your heart what you’re doing is for you and nobody else. Know that you love what you do and that one day your work will bear fruit. No matter what everyone else says as long as you know you have the ability to prosper nobody can take that from you.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

Currently I’m facing obstacles where I feel I give to much of myself to others. This year I’m focused on myself. I can’t continue to pour into half full glasses to make them full just in the end make my glass completely empty.
