Meet Sadia James-Guissé

We recently connected with Sadia James-Guissé and have shared our conversation below.

Sadia, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I still deal with imposter syndrome. Feeling like I do not “belong” in the creative spaces and conversations, receiving the recognition I have for past innovative projects, creations, etc. But then I remembered that the higher power makes no mistakes. So, if I take breaks, the motion is slow, and sales aren’t frequent. I remind myself that I was given this gift, this vision, so I am right where I belong.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Since my last online mag interview, I have rebranded my e-commerce jewelry store! Now known as “Musemery.co”. High-quality accessories, crossbody purses, costume, and sterling silver jewelry. However, my most important project thus far is my Poetry book. It is currently in progress, and as someone who has been writing since I was 11 years young, this means so much to me.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three things any passionate person creating a legacy for themselves should master are discipline, time management, and balance. Mastering those key things will get you far in whatever you are trying to accomplish. Having the ability to accept constructive criticism and being aware that everything has an audience is also important.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

When I’m overwhelmed, I usually journal, watch a good show, eat my favorite foods, make a matcha latte, and stray away from my phone/social media for a while. You can benefit from some alone time and being gentle with yourself. And letting go of unrealistic deadlines and expectations. Put your best foot forward and don’t worry about the rest.
