Sadie , first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

During the first 3–4 years of my business, I struggled terribly with imposter syndrome. Cooking was one of my biggest passions, and I loved sharing that love with others, but I often felt like everyone else was doing it better or had more experience than me. I didn’t have formal training in culinary school, just a deep love for food and for serving my clients. Whenever I saw other people’s work, I couldn’t help but think, who am I to be doing this?

What kept me going was my supportive family, my incredible crew, and of course, my clients. With every kind word about the quality and taste of our food, I gained a little more confidence. I’ve come to truly believe that confidence isn’t something you’re just born with, it’s something you grow. It’s earned by stepping outside of your comfort zone and choosing to try, even when it scares you.

Over time, I realized those feelings of self-doubt may never completely go away. But instead of letting imposter syndrome hold me back, I’ve learned to use it as fuel. It’s a reminder to keep growing, to never stay stagnant, and to always keep pushing myself forward.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m the owner of Sadie’s Catering, a full-service catering company in the Gallatin Valley. We cater weddings, corporate events, private dinners, and other special occasions.

What I love most is working with clients to create the perfect meal for their event and being part of some of the most meaningful moments in their lives. I also find so much inspiration from my team, their creativity and ideas, teach me something new every day.

Food has a powerful way of bringing people together, and it’s incredibly rewarding to be part of those moments.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

These are the three qualities or skills that I think have been most impactful for my journey:

Committed- to meet and exceed expectations consistently.
Courage- to step outside my comfort zone and learn from challenges
Empowerment- I love seeing the potential and unique gifts in my team and I take pride in encouraging and supporting them to grow, excel, and be their best selves.

My advice: Don’t be afraid to tackle skills that don’t come naturally. Small, consistent steps will bring you closer to your goals!

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

My parents have had a huge impact on my journey. My dad taught me the value of hard work and giving 100% in everything I do, and that if someone else can do it, so can you. My mom has been my biggest cheerleader. She’s incredibly encouraging and has shown me how to see the best in everyone, helping people feel welcome and valued.
