Meet Sahana Turner

We recently connected with Sahana Turner and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Sahana, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
At first, stepping into the world of content creation felt daunting, and I often questioned whether my experiences held any value in the digital space. However, I realized that I actually have the perfect experience and skill set, as I’ve been on social media most of my life. If you’re experiencing imposter syndrome, I believe it’s crucial to discover your ‘why’ for being on social media. My intention on social media has always been to encourage self-improvement. I decided to share my life journey authentically across social media platforms, and I began receiving messages from others who found solace and inspiration in my content. This inspired me to bring my childhood dream into fruition, which is a self-improvement company. Connecting with a supportive community of like-minded creators helped me realize that my unique perspective was not only valid but also crucial in fostering empathy and understanding. Over time, celebrating even the smallest milestones and acknowledging my growth allowed me to embrace my voice confidently, knowing that my story could make a positive impact on those navigating similar challenges. I believe that you have to get out of your own way to be the best version of yourself. Imposter syndrome is a result of overthinking and fear.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I was born in Los Angeles, CA, and raised in Atlanta, GA. I was always expressive as a child, often being awarded best-dressed and most creative in school, and always aiming for perfect grades. In high school, I would post motivational videos on YouTube and Instagram, and many videos would go viral, but I just did it as a hobby. After graduating high school in 2015, I took a social media hiatus to focus on college and made a return in 2018 when I had my daughter. I started making videos talking about my everyday life and sharing motivational posts because my intention on social media has always been to encourage people to become the best version of themselves, using my life as an example. My business and social media presence are specifically catered to let people know that even small progress is progress, and the best version of YOU looks different for everyone.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities that were most impactful on my journey to becoming a business owner/content creator are: Authenticity, Communication Skills, and Creativity. There is no competition when you are creating refreshing, original, authentic content. Often, anytime I found myself overwhelmed was only because I started to stray away from SELF. As long as you have a balance of creating authentic content/products and still being open to the trends, you will always win. Communication skills are something that I genuinely had to learn and work on. Whatever your business is, communication is the number one skill you want to develop because that is how you will connect and engage with your target audience. Creativity aligns with authenticity. Being creative can be easy for some, but when you are constantly looking at other people’s work in comparison to yours, it can become difficult. A great thing to do is to step back from looking at others and go do something fun to get creative thoughts flowing. With this dynamic combo, you are destined for success.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Absolutely! I’m thrilled to explore partnership opportunities with like-minded creators, brands, and organizations that align with my content’s values and resonate with my audience. I’m particularly interested in collaborating with individuals who have pop-up shops, book fairs/bookstores, or would like to learn more about new self-improvement stationery products for personal use or their establishment. I am also open to speaking on any podcasts about my business/personal brand. If you’re reading this and are enthusiastic about a potential collaboration, feel free to reach out to me through the email listed or DM me on my social media platforms. Let’s join forces to create impactful and engaging content that inspires and uplifts your brand and our community!
