We were lucky to catch up with Saige Lenzmeier recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Saige with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I would say I get my work ethic from a few different areas in my life. The biggest being, I don’t feel stimulated doing day to day jobs or tasks. I like to be creatively challenged. I struggle to work in a consistent work routine. I also don’t have many ambitions in life outside of creating art so I need to prioritize creating for work.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m still pretty new in my artistic journey. I am mostly self taught and practice in my home after I get done with my day job. I look forward to expanding my brand, by creating pieces that awaken something in me and an audience. I hope to have a cooperative store or community where me and others can create and teach. I currently teach a sculpting class in Kenosha wi. I also have an online website but my goal is to collaborate with artists to build off one another and sell our goods.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Taking classes definitely built my skill level. I’d say I learned a lot techniques from classes or random projects that i unconsciously use in current projects today. I have gained some experience in showcasing my work at a gallery in Milwaukee WI and some art markets. This was very impactful for me as a young artist and adult, definitely a jumping point for me to take my artistic career seriously. And teaching classes has also given me a different sense of artistic purpose. And has taught me how to communicate my process with others. The best advice I could give from my personal experience is, just apply and submit your work to anything and everything. You never know what you will learn from putting your work out there. And it’s worth the satisfaction of seeing your work impact other people

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I would say I’d be most interested in collaborating with the meow wolf team. Meow wolf is an immersive artistic experience. Going to meow wolf was probably one of the most impactful artistic experiences I’ve had. This was a time art truly spoke to me. It’s a very unique and unconventional way to showcase artists work and it’s truly phenomenal. It would be a dream to be involved in their artistic cause.
I would love to collaborate with as many people as I can to learn new techniques and grow as an artist.
