Meet Sal Giudici

We were lucky to catch up with Sal Giudici recently and have shared our conversation below.

Sal, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
Having a vibrant and evolving creative spirit is a very important part in my photography. I’ve found several approaches that keep my creativity alive:

I’m inspired from a multitude of sources that show me something that can ignite my imagination. These sources can be natural wonders, lesser-known corners or hidden gems and perceptions that can fuel my creativity into captivating visual stories.
I challenge myself to step outside my comfort zone with an unconventional approach. Using new techniques, pushing the boundaries of composition, and experimenting something alternative allow me to add a sense of novelty and intrigue into my work.
Actively engaging with other artists and like-minded individuals can expand my horizons, plus I have a curiosity for the world around me, so I enjoy immersing myself in different form of art, literature and communication, this process brings me inspiration from unexpected places.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m originally from Italy and I used to live in Sydney before moving to Arizona 8 years ago. Each year I made new connections and new experiences, eventually started freelancing and shooting different photography niches. After some progress I was feeling that something was missing, and it was at that moment I realized that in order to be able to share a connection I needed to put more of my personality, thoughts and adventure into my work. From there I was fortunate to meet new clients, art collectors, creatives and other photographers.

Aside taking photos for my projects, I’m currently focused on curating a cool experience for photography lovers and art collectors. Gallery Canyons is a new community of local and southwest photographers, the mission is to foster a sense of connection between photographers and collectors, while supporting talented local artists and showcasing their work.

At Gallery Canyons we offer a carefully curated selection of framed photography prints available for purchase on our website. Artworks are printed on gallery-quality fine art paper and we ensure that every detail is meticulously preserved to convey the raw beauty and emotion of each photograph.

In the following months Gallery Canyons will host a physical gallery in Old Town Scottsdale, an event that will serve as a hub for the community of artists and collectors, a space for inspiration and new collaboration, featuring different perspectives and styles.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
If I reflect about my journey as a photographer I can see three important aspects:

Having a genuine curiosity about art and photography; I constantly feed my visions through the world around me: news, books and music. My advice would be to explore various genres of photography, experiment and be open to new possibilities.
After the exploration phase the next step is to develop in a spontaneous way an unique artistic voice that speaks your personality. In a very saturated market, creating a distinct identity is a major step. Be unafraid to take risks, allow your perspective to emerge and evolve naturally. Authenticity helps your work stand out and resonate with others.
I see photography like a continuous journey of self-discovery and growth. With passion, time and practice, new photographers can develop their skills and refine their styles.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m always open to collaborate with like-minded people who share a passion for photography and aesthetics. Gallery Canyons has a dedicated trade program that offers exclusive deals and prices for trade professionals such as interior designers, decorators, and art consultants. To connect with me, regard this type of collaboration, please visit our website and reach out through the designated trade contact form.

Also as the curator of Gallery Canyons I carefully review each submission and I’m always seeking to connect with talented photographers whose work aligns with our theme and meet the high standards of our collection. If you are a photographer and would like the opportunity to be featured in our gallery I encourage you to contact me.
