Meet Salina Lynds

We recently connected with Salina Lynds and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Salina , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

My self esteem was built on lies and wearing masks to pretend I was something I wasn’t for a good chunk of my life, I had built a false ego just to hide that scared little girl. Not until I changed my way of life did I find true self confidence. 11 years ago I gave birth during a very dark time in my life and was smacked with a reality check to either get my life together or lose my child. I chose my child. That was the first step in building real confidence in myself by being able to be selfless and choose a better life for my son. After he was born I went through a program called Westcare Nevada that showed me I didn’t have to wear those masks anymore and that I am worth love and respect for who I truly am. I stopped living for myself and started living for a little boy and my perspective changed. I changed my whole life because my son was worth more to me than I ever was. Until I figured out I was worth more to me than anyone. Once I did that, I knew there was nothing in this world that could stop me. This is the mindset that gave me the confidence to start my own business. I am faced every day with struggles but everyday I choose me. My best friend told me “you have more confidence in your pinky toe than most people do in their whole body.” I beat something that was supposed to kill me and everyday I fight for myself and I strive to be a better person. The more good I do and the more I work on myself as a person, the more confidence I build, I am unstoppable.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am currently working towards building my business on Facebook, instagram and TikTok. I have a food business called “flavorgasm” I have been trying to build for the last couple of years. I make so many different varieties of food such as Lebanese, Mexican, BBQ, Chinese, Italian, Southern, you name it I can make it. My talent can not be put into a box. My 3 year goal is to have a restaurant that will be a Mexican/Lebanese fusion of both of my cultures, I don’t want something too big because I want my food quality to always be the same! When some food companies get too big they lose their authenticity.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

First and foremost get a mentor that is in the same business you are building so that they can help guide you in the right direction. Second, perfect your craft. Thirdly, build your social media account even if you’re not ready yet, every follower is a potential customer later!

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

“The Go-Giver” is basically about not being able to keep what you have without giving it away. A very rich man who built his business from the ground up shows other entrepreneurs how to build and run a business free of charge because he believes that keeping all his wisdom to Himself is selfish. He takes many different people from different avenues and helps them build multi-million dollar companies. My mentor told me to read this book before he agreed to mentor me and that’s why I say it’s so important to have a mentor when you’re building a business.
