Meet Salon Aux Chandelles

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Salon Aux Chandelles. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Salon, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

From the very beginning, both of us felt a deep longing to give people something more than just a beautiful night out—something that would linger in their hearts long after the final note. We’ve always believed in the transformative power of music, not merely as entertainment, but as a force that can enlighten and even transcend. It started as a dream to create an intimate gathering place—Salon Aux Chandelles—where individuals could unite through timeless performances and where sound and frequencies serve as pathways to a higher collective consciousness. Little by little, that dream revealed itself to be our greater calling: to build an organization dedicated to igniting human potential through uplifting musical experiences, ultimately cultivating a new ‘civilization of the heart.’ In other words, our purpose found us when we realized that music itself was a catalyst for human connection and enlightenment, and that we had a responsibility to share this gift on a grander scale. We believe that by enveloping people in passionate performances and meaningful social interactions, we can spark a wave of inspiration and empathy that resonates far beyond the concert hall, ultimately guiding humanity toward a more harmonious future.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

At Salon Aux Chandelles, Alexandra Andreeva and I — Vartan Mailiantz —are dedicated to creating unforgettable concert experiences that merge timeless music with an elegant social atmosphere right in the heart of Manhattan. Both of us are award-winning musicians; Alexandra is a violist, and I am a violinist. Our extensive international concert experience, having performed in over 20 countries as soloists and chamber musicians, has profoundly shaped our vision and approach.

What excites us most about our work is the ability to transform ordinary evenings into extraordinary moments of shared joy and inspiration. We believe that music is more than just entertainment—it’s a powerful medium that fosters genuine human connections and uplifts the spirit of our community. Every event we curate is thoughtfully designed to ensure that each note resonates deeply with our audience, creating an atmosphere where meaningful interactions can flourish.

Professionally, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our new non-profit initiative, which builds upon the foundation of Salon Aux Chandelles. Our mission with this organization is to enlighten and transcend humanity through the transformative power of sound and human connection. We envision a new civilization grounded in empathy, creativity, and collective harmony, and we aim to inspire this through immersive concerts, interactive workshops, community outreach events, and innovative programs that explore the intersections of music, technology, and personal growth.

What sets our brand apart is our unwavering commitment to excellence and authenticity. Drawing from our diverse international experiences, we collaborate with passionate artists who share our dedication to creating meaningful and transformative experiences. We are also expanding our offerings to include a variety of new initiatives. In the coming months, we’re excited to introduce collaborations with renowned musicians, launch our first annual festival dedicated to music and human connection, and develop digital platforms to make our experiences accessible to a global audience.

Additionally, we are planning several special events and service launches aimed at broadening our impact and reaching new audiences. These initiatives are designed to not only entertain but also to inspire and unite people from all walks of life, fostering a more enlightened and connected world.

We invite everyone to join us on this journey to celebrate the timeless power of music and to be part of a movement that aspires to create positive change. Together, through the strength of sound and the depth of human connections, we believe we can build a future where harmony and understanding thrive.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Reflecting on our journey as musicians and co-founder of Salon Aux Chandelles, three qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge have been particularly impactful:

Resilience and Adaptability

Impact: The life of a touring musician is filled with challenges—unexpected changes in schedules, diverse cultural environments, and the constant pursuit of excellence. Resilience has allowed me to navigate setbacks and maintain my passion, while adaptability has enabled me to thrive in varied settings and collaborate with a wide range of artists.

Advice: Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. Develop the ability to stay positive and flexible when things don’t go as planned. This mindset will not only help you overcome obstacles but also open doors to new and unforeseen possibilities.

Deep Musicality and Technical Mastery

Impact: Mastery of our instrument and a profound understanding of music theory have been the foundation of our success both as a soloists and a chamber musicians. This deep musicality allows me to convey emotion and connect with audiences on a visceral level, which is essential for creating the transformative experiences we aim for at Salon Aux Chandelles. And this all is pretty much a foundation the quality of our project.

Advice: Dedicate yourself to continuous learning and practice. Strive for technical excellence, but also seek to understand the emotional and theoretical aspects of your craft. This comprehensive approach will enhance your ability to perform authentically and inspire others through your art.

Leadership and Visionary Thinking

Impact: Transitioning from performer to co-founder required strong leadership skills and the ability to envision and execute a unique concert series. Leading Salon Aux Chandelles has taught us the importance of clear communication, strategic planning, and fostering a collaborative environment where creativity can flourish.

Advice: Cultivate your leadership abilities by taking initiative and being proactive in your endeavors. Develop a clear vision for what you want to achieve and communicate it effectively to those around you. Building a supportive and innovative team is crucial for turning your ideas into reality.

Final Thoughts

For those early in their journey, my advice is to build a strong foundation in your craft while also developing the soft skills that enable you to lead and adapt. Embrace every experience as a learning opportunity, stay committed to your passion, and never underestimate the power of collaboration and connection. By focusing on resilience, mastery, and leadership, you can navigate the complexities of your path and create meaningful, lasting impacts through your work.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

Balancing the demands of performing, touring, running Salon Aux Chandelles, and managing ARTLEX ENTERTAINMENT can sometimes feel overwhelming. Here are the strategies we use to regain our balance:

Play our musical instruments:

Reconnect with Music: Picking up our violin or viola and playing allows us to immerse ourselves in what we love most. It’s a therapeutic way to release stress and remind ourselves of our passion.

Take Mindful Breaks:

Practice Mindfulness: We dedicate at least 10 minutes each day to meditation or simply focusing on my breath. This helps clear my mind and reduce anxiety.

Stay Active:

Exercise: Working out, running or just a quick physical warm-up, staying active helps us clear my head and boost our energy levels.

Lean on Our Support System:

Connect with Loved Ones: Talking to each other, friends, or family members provides emotional support and new perspectives, helping us navigate tough times.

Prioritize and Delegate:

Focus on Essentials: We identify what truly matters and prioritize those tasks. Trusting our team at both Salon Aux Chandelles and ARTLEX ENTERTAINMENT to handle other responsibilities allows us to manage our workload more effectively.

Advice for Others:

Find Your Outlet: Whether it’s music, art, or another hobby, having something that brings you joy can be incredibly grounding.

Stay Organized: Keeping a clear schedule helps manage tasks and reduces stress.

Be Kind to Yourself: It’s okay to take breaks and acknowledge your limits.
