We recently connected with Sam Birchenough and have shared our conversation below.

Sam, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

There’s a strong intrinsic drive in which I can’t explain, I can only say it’s there. I’ve been through a lot and have never given up. It’s helpful to know that as tough as things may seem at times, they always do work out.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

In 2015, I launched BRCHN Design House with the goal of propelling the product development industry years forward by redefining the concept-to-market design process. Built on relationships with technology innovators, we’ve paired the latest software & hardware toolsets with clean sheet thinking to develop a vastly more efficient process when compared to traditional industry standards. As a boutique design firm, we run four projects at a time; usually no less or more. The result is 70+ world class designs delivered to happy clients in consumer products, consumer packaged goods, medical, dental, transportation, furniture, and entertainment.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Your time is irreplaceable and you should spend it doing things that you feel passionate about. When you find such a thing and embark on an entrepreneurial journey, if it’s anything like mine, it will be quite the roller coaster. If you don’t give up, you can’t fail.

Zoom out on a regular basis and look at what you’re doing from a macro perspective. Make sure you’re spending these points in your life in the best way you see fit.

Mindset is everything. Do what you can to expand your mind. It’s amazing the levels and possibilities this unlocks.
