Meet Sam Ferrell

We were lucky to catch up with Sam Ferrell recently and have shared our conversation below.

Sam, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I grew up in a partial negative environment and delt with substance abuse through my teens and part of my 20s. I’m 13 years sober now with a great family. I love to help people through art. Within the past few years I started a small photography business and we sold our house for an rv. We travel the country and stay places for 6 months at a time. From Georgia but, currently in Maine. We have lived in Texas and Wyoming. I have gained clients a friend in all areas. Anyone can take a decent photo now days so, I create a piece of art with it which makes my work stand out. I believe on emphasizing the emotion captured with a photo.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I love what many photographers do but, I seem to separate myself from many because I create art with my work. I emphasize the emotion captured from a photo through editing techniques and color manipulation. I want clients to see them and feel like they are from a fairy tale. I want them to love the photos and remember the session as a confident model.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three qualities are probably artistic, persistent, and passionate.

My best advice is to stock comparing yourself to other artists and love your own style. It will evolve into what you will most likely want it to be.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I am looking to collaborate with inspiring models who struggle so or do not with confidence. Not only will help someone by giving them material and a confidence boost but, I will gain more for my portfolio and a new friend.
