We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sam Roberts a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sam, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Finding my purpose wasn’t a single, dramatic moment. It was more like a series of small realizations that guided me toward something bigger. I’ve always been an artist—a creative—and that’s been central to who I am for as long as I can remember.
Eventually, I started to wonder if I could build something around that identity. The idea of a business focused on creative project planning began to take shape. It started with tools I had developed for myself and my partner, who’s also an artist, and I leaned on my background in psychology to refine them. At first, it was just a practical way to make money—something I thought might help pay the bills while doing work I enjoyed.
But as people started using my tools, I realized they were making a real impact. I saw creatives breaking through blocks, organizing their ideas, finishing projects, and starting new ones. It was incredible to watch, and it didn’t take long for me to understand that this wasn’t just a business—it was something so much more meaningful.
That’s when my purpose came into focus. My mission is to help creatives get unstuck so they can make their art—because the world needs their art. Once I understood that, everything started to fall into place. Helping people create feels like the most important work I could be doing, and I feel so grateful to be part of their journeys.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
At Saint Violet, my focus is on helping artists and creatives overcome blocks, organize their ideas, and turn their visions into reality. I create tools and resources that support the creative process—not by forcing productivity, but by honoring the complexity of what it means to make something meaningful.
What makes Saint Violet unique is the way it centers the reality of creativity: messy, nonlinear, and deeply personal. So much of what’s out there pushes rigid structures or endless hustle, but I believe creative breakthroughs happen when you give yourself the time and space to explore, rest, and rediscover what truly matters.
Right now, I’m focusing on expanding Saint Violet beyond just tools—it’s becoming a space for creatives to connect, learn, and reimagine how they approach their work. From new planners designed to fit real-life creative rhythms to educational content exploring topics like energy mapping, overcoming burnout, and embracing stillness, everything we’re working on is about helping creatives stay connected to their process.
For me, Saint Violet isn’t just about creating products—it’s about fostering a mindset that helps people trust themselves as artists and make the kind of work the world needs.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful things in my journey have been resilience, creative intuition, and deep inner work.
Resilience
There are so many moments when things don’t go as planned—projects fall flat, ideas don’t pan out, or the obstacles feel insurmountable. Resilience is what keeps you moving forward. For me, resilience wasn’t something I was born with; it was built slowly through trial and error, through failure, and through learning to trust that I could try again. My advice for building resilience is to reframe failure as part of the process. Each stumble is teaching you something, and the more you practice, the stronger you’ll feel.
Creative Intuition
Learning to trust my instincts—both as an artist and as a business owner—has been one of the most empowering things in my journey. It’s easy to get caught up in what others are doing or what you think you’re supposed to do, but the magic happens when you lean into what feels authentic to you. To develop creative intuition, spend time experimenting without pressure or judgment. Create things just for yourself. The more you listen to your inner voice, the louder and clearer it will become.
Deep Inner Work
This has been, without a doubt, one of the most transformative aspects of my journey. Addressing my own limiting beliefs, patterns, and triggers—and getting honest about how they hold me back—has been essential. Digging deep into my authenticity and learning to truly listen to my intuition has allowed me to show up fully in my creative work and in my life. For those early in their journey, my advice is to give yourself the time and space to do this work. Whether that’s through journaling, therapy, meditation, or self-reflection, it’s worth it. The more deeply you know yourself, the more confidently you can move forward in alignment with your purpose.
For anyone starting their journey, my biggest piece of advice is to be patient with yourself. Growth takes time, and your path doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. Focus on showing up, learning as you go, and trusting the process.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Collaboration has always been something I value deeply—there’s something magical about coming together with others to create something bigger than what any of us could do alone. For 2025, I’m especially focused on finding opportunities to collaborate with individuals, brands, or organizations that share a passion for creativity, community, and supporting artists.
I’m looking for collaborators who are as excited about the process as they are about the outcome—people who are interested in exploring bold ideas, fostering meaningful connections, and creating tools or resources that help creatives thrive. This could look like co-developing products, hosting workshops or events, creating educational content, or building spaces (virtual or physical) for artists to connect and grow.
If this resonates with you and you’d like to collaborate, I’d love to hear from you! The best way to reach me is through email or Instagram. Let’s create something amazing together!
