Meet Sam Rodriguez

We were lucky to catch up with Sam Rodriguez recently and have shared our conversation below.

Sam, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I wasn’t raised with a lot of money. I lived with my ill mother, grandmother and my older sister. My mother was never to blame as her deteriorating health prohibited her from working. We never had a lot but we had enough. Once I was old enough to work full time what I knew was that I would take control of my own future and destiny. I have a leaders mentality and a desire to win and succeed for me and my family. What I realized early on was the power of leverage and passive income that would allow me to help more people.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
With over two decades of invaluable experience and knowledge, I have served in various roles across North America, including Vice President of International Growth at eXp Realty, Co-Founder/Co-Owner of Point Home Realty an Independent Southern California Brokerage, and Keller Williams Team Leader.

Although I have sold real estate and am I licensed Realtor in California, I gravitated towards leadership, consulting, growth and expansion/recruitment, guiding Real Estate Professionals.

As the VP International Growth for eXp Realty I oversaw and increasing their agent count from 2,600 to 53,000 in under 5 years, earning them the title of #1 Independent Real Estate Brokerage in the US.

I recently took my real estate expertise to the mortgage industry as a Founding Partner of the industry’s first and only brokerage agnostic national profit share model where we connect qualified real estate brokerage owners and team leaders to a Mortgage Bank, placing them in financial alignment by providing them their own mortgage branch as well as the ability to earn a portion of the distribution of profits amongst all real estate partners.

In March 2023, I joined Epique Realty as a Board of Director ahead of the company’s national expansion. This is the first national brokerage of its kind with an insane agent benefits list never offered before. Over the past 120 days we have expanded outside of Texas to an additional 8 states while more than doubling our agent count. The quality of the agents we attract is put ahead of the agent count as we continue to grow our existing states footprint but also continue our national expansion. We are also garnering international attention and expansion opportunities.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. I’m a people person and I enjoy helping others self discover their potential. 2. Empathy is trait that many try to learn as skill and in todays business it is a must.
3. Become an expert. Put the time in to learn and develop new skills or sharpen existing ones.

Advice I would give is to follow your passion, know that there is strength in numbers, meaning we can go a lot farther as a team than we can alone and to have a written plan that is measurable and can be adjusted and held accountable to.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
I’m a slow learner so it took me way too long to truly realize the importance and value of who you give your time and energy to.
